    Re: Sound System

Whatever system you decide, I would just be careful of extreme volume levels in your TBird (or anywhere else).

In Oct 2007, I contracted severe tinnitus (ear screeching/ringing) brought on by years of loud music.

Also, be careful around chainsaws, leaf blowers, etc. (I know of one person who contracted tinnitus from attending a wedding with a loud band.)

Severe tinnitus is something you do NOT want to have for the rest of your life.

For those of you whose CD player jammed - Do you have any advice on how to get the CDs out? Sadly my CD play died a few months ago and I haven't had the time to leave it at the dealership to get it fixed.

          Re: Sound System

A couple of years ago I put a Pioneer navigation system in my bird. The system was bought and installed at Team Ford in Las Vegas. I was talking to Pat Kelly (parts manager) about upgrading the speakers. Pat is my age, we started talking about how radios had changed since we were kids. My first car was a new 1966 GTO convertable, (thanks mom and dad) it had one front and one rear speaker and a reverb control. (state of the art) we really have big demands for our new cars now. Not to start a new thread but what kind of radio system did your first car have

            Re: Sound System

My first car was a 1957 Mercury I bought in 1962 when I was home on leave from USMC Boot Camp, AM only. In 1974 I got my Journeymans Card after serving a 5 year Apprenticeship in the Pipefitter's Local 597 and I ordered a brand new 1974 Olds Cutless Supreme, Triple Black that was loaded. The radio I ordered was an AM/FM Stereo with the 8 track Stereo player. It was like a $500.00 option. Everyone thought I was nuts. Leroy

We just use a credit card. Slip the credit card into the CD slot and pry the CD down or up. I can't remember which way. The CD will pop out usually.

If not, then you have to go to the dealer and have them remove the entire console. Then they have to order a replacement unit and install it. Usually, the company that refurbishes the units will be able to recover your CD's and get them back to you.

I'm returning from my Ford dealer where I paid $100.00 to have six stuck CD's removed from my changer. I continued to get an error message each time I tried to eject one of the CD's. In each case, I could not get the CD player to work. The technician at the dealership had to remove them manually. Now the player works perfectly. Just curious. Has anyone else had a similar experience with the CD changer?

Contact Jim Heath. He had a similar problem at Savannah Thunder two years ago. His CDs played, but he couldn't get any of them to eject, so that he could insert the special event CD we were given. It has since been corrected, but I don't remember how.

                        RE: Tinnius,

After years of drag racing, B-52 launches without protection, and headphones to the max, I am now suffering this problem. Along with that is a loss of hearing.
No loss on the sound system, because I only play oldies that never had sound quality anyway. I did have some CDs get stuck, and pulled them out with a pair of needlenose pliers that were made with a ninty degree bend. They made a mark on the CDs, but the system still plays well and the marked up CDs still work in my home system. MY home system is a 500 watt per side, and includes a turntable for the hundreds of vinyl LPs and 45s I have. Many are classical early pop, and jazz. They still are crackel free, I am told. Take cre of your ears! Ed

Use a credit card to pry the CD's down, to get them to pop out of the CD player. Works every time!
