From that website.... Looks like an interesting place...

Re: New Jersey (tri-state) Lunch Outing

Thanks Doug for a good time. After leaving the restaurant and that great food we headed south along the shore (that's what we call it in NJ!). Walked the boardwalks in Asbury Park, Ocean grove and Seaside Heights. Not much has changed since I was a kid and spent weekends in those places. Even went to the neighborhood in Seaside Park where we stayed and visited the church where I went when we were there. The liquor store is still on the corner of 2nd Ave and the house we stayed in is still there also. So thanks again Doug, it was a weekend to remember.

Gene, sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Maybe you should get Dr's orders to head back to Wilmington for some R&R.

Rusty, looks like everyone had fun as always.

btw Yours is the only other saddle interior I've seen, and I think it "works" with MSG also.

Re: New Jersey (tri-state) Lunch Outing

Is the Chatterbox still on the boardwalk at Seaside Heights?

You folks might not be as old as I am, but does anybody remember back in the late 60's that they had a musical group that imitated the Beatles? They sounded pretty good, too. (I used to go to Army Reserve summer camps (1962 thru 1968) at Fort Dix and spend many a night after duty on the boardwalk. Wildwood was too far to travel to.)

Remember the "Nicky Newark" look for guys, white shirt, black slacks, and rap around dark glasses?

              Ah, the good old days.

This Chatterbox is in Sussex County, not at the shore. On a really nice Saturday night, we get anywhere from 300-500 cars!

The Chatterbox is (was?) a bar in Seaside also. Haven't really noticed what bars are called what when I drive through these days. Guess I should take a drive down soon because after this weekend I won't be passing through that summer mess of traffic.

Jerry I misspent a lot of my youth on summer nights at the Chatterbox in Seaside Heights in the late 60's.. They used to have some bar clearing brawls there. How about the Osprey? I think it was in Manasquan.

I remember the Osprey by name, but I never went there.

By chance, did you ever bump into a weightlifter from North Bergen, NJ, nicknamed "muzzie" at the Chatterbox?

Big guy, typical "Nicky Newark" outfit. He used to hold court on the benches just across the boardwalk from the Chatterbox.

                        He was (RIP) my cousin.

I believe its still there. Again another place I often drive by, but don't pay attention to the name these days. Leggett's is a few doors down and I've been in there on a rare occasion or two.

No Jerry sorry, don't remember him, many years ago. I usually didn't remember much the morning after a night at the Chatterbox.

Great photo gang! Glad everyone had a good time. It was not my Dayton that caused the problem on Saturday. Whew! I had a nail embedded in the tire.
