They are a nice size.. small on the inside to feel intimate, big on the outside to be noticed by other cars and heavy enough not to likely let you get killed in an accident. They have a safe feel, with enough responsiveness to make you feel control

When I first got mine, a co-worker stopped, stared and said "Wow! How much did that set you back?" My response was "....doesn't matter, It's what I wanted." Now every time I run into someone I haven't seen in a while they ask "Still got your 'Bird?" The answer is always a smile and they know. Can't say anything else, it's been covered already.

Anyone ever have this happen? A friend who really liked the car was riding with me as we drove by the dealer where I purchased mine. I mentioned we were passing by its original home... She looks at me and says...."This is a Ford?".. Found that quite amusing...

Yep...that has happened to me. I've been mistaken for a Sebring and a Jaguar...a few times. I've also been mistaken for "one o' them fancy feren exotic sports cars" (in Alabama speak) by my redneck brother. I just grin.....

.....Ford did such a good job with the Thunderbird...This daily driver of mine has kept me out of the new car market for the past 6 years.... A first for me...I can't imagine anything that is going to change that....and, as I'm playing in the last quarter of the game of life...I will probably still have it when I tip over.....

What's even crazier is that when I bought mine back in '03, the dealer took me into the back and told me that he was supposed to give me some basic training on how the Tbird works, but he said. "They call this a Ford, but it's not like any Ford I've ever seen before, so I don't know what to tell you about this car. Just read the owner's manual really well is the best I can tell you."

THAT'S when I began looking at ThunderbirdNest.

Who needs all that new crap anyway? GPS, MP3, etc. As I always say, "They didn't have that in the '50s." I like the fact that my car is a newer version of something from the '50s. I love love love OLD CARS. We're lucky enough to have power windows, power seats, seat warmers, etc. We should be thankful for what we have in these cars. Again, they are just an updated version of the 1955 model. For my next car (once I pay this one off 100 years from now), I plan to go back a few decades rather than upgrade to the current year. My dad and I want a Mustang, probably a 1969. That'll be Ford #2 for the Ford collection LOL. Collect 'em all! I do really miss having a back seat but whatever, I live without out! We just don't take my car and that's a good thing! :)

The fact that the Thunderbird was built on a jaguar frame is really what makes this car special.

The Jag, Lincoln, and Thunderbird shared the frame, drive train, suspension, and the Thunderbird and LS share the dash and other such parts... The frame was shortened for the Thunderbird.
