The brake light has been intermittently on and off for about 2 weeks (as I was driving). Lately, the on time has been nearly all the time. However, it is temperature sensitive -- on when air temperature cold, off when it warmed up to about 70. I wasn't too worried since I had had a similar problem on my Jeep once and that turned out the the problem was the switch on the hand brake. However, the brake light on the Tbird is more scientific--it also senses if something is going wrong with your brakes. Took it in for a check and found that there was leak in one of the rear calipers. Yikes! So FESTBRD is resting at Sunnyvale Ford tonight, waiting for the parts to come.

Re: Intermittant Brake Light
Just a catch up. After the rear caliper was fixed, they decided the brake peddle was too mushy--soooo, they are putting in a new master cylinder. This time they reminded me that the extended warranty policy allows for a rental. Hope they can get the part, fix the car and get it back to me tomorrow. Too much to do this weekend to be worrying it.Frank

Re: Intermittant Brake Light
James the GTP had disc all around.I went through so many sets of front breaks I can't count. If you got 8K-10K on them you were lucky. One of the main reasons I traded it in as side from being a snow plow in N.Y. The spoiler was only 3" above the ground and when it snow you just didn't use it.Bought a new Bronco in 96 more practical for me.
P.S. Gm had a class action against them for the brakes .I received the notice in 2000 and you need all you bills.Last edited by Ediron; Mar 27, 2009, 10:43 AM.sigpic
