Very dissappointed with the window door trim...

I just got back from a show in Ottawa, Ont. last Sunday and this was the first time I was taking my 'Bird out with my brand new stainless steel door trim pieces installed. Well, although they looked good, they went RIGHT OFF the car as soon as I got back home after the show! "WHY?" you ask?, well here's why: I sliced my left thumb while wiping my car dry with a chammy! Ouch!! There was even a thin piece of skin missing from my thumb! I'm very dissappointed with this product. Not only I paid $128.99 for two flat pieces of stainless steel, I had a hard time making them fit right (read my previous post), only to find out how dangerous they can be as the edges are razor-sharp... I think they should have been made smooth at the factory or even better, moulded like some factory trim pieces, in a way that they do not become a safety hazard...
I'm VERY dissappointed with this product and if I knew, I would've never bought them... It seems that EACH TIME I buy something for that car, something goes wrong!...First it was the fender skirts (some hardware missing and tire-rubbing issues), second, the dash kit had to be replaced at my expense (yellowing problem), then some stainless steel rocker trim pieces (made in two pieces that do not align right...ended up having to replace the whole rocker panels) and now this......It pi**es me off!...(sorry)
    Claude
P.S: There are times when I think that I should get rid of that car and get a brand new gorgeous, bright blue 2010 Mustang convertible!...

Hi Ed...My father had a sheet metal shop for years so I know that S.S. can cut real bad...but since these mouldings are to be placed where they can be touched easily, I would've expected them to be safe...but NO.
        see ,ya!

2FAST4U, Send them back, they'll be happy to give you your money back. You might have to pay a 15% Junk restocking fee though. Leroy

Leroy, thanks for the suggestion but they were bent beyond repair after removal and went directly into the trash can......I doubt that I would've got a refund...

I guess the tape held in some places. Shame to spend that money on an item and it gets ruined just trying to remove it.

Hi guys I am the guy claude referred to in florida .I had rough edges which I sanded down. You do install them on the rubber.Have had no problem with them sticking.I cleaned the area with alcohol including the rubber section and they are holding fine.I put mine on after I had already installed the hard top trim. So when I put these on I had the top off and aligned so they would match.

Mike, I replied to your e-mail...
                  Thanks!

                  Claude.

Guys, I'm including a picture of the plastic trim I installed in place of the stainless steel pieces and let me say this:
                  1° they cost much less
2° they're much easier to fit and install
3° they're completely SAFE to touch!...

                  Claude.

P.S: That plastic trim is the same used by "Treken" for the grille surround mouldings...
