Sadly the bumper will have to come off if you do not want to drill holes in it to pull it out. After removal you can use a heat gun to bring it back to shape without drilling it. It will still need to be sanded, filled in and repainted. I would call my insurance company if you are not familiar with the repair process.
I have repaired other plastic bumpers in the past, even ones that have been torn on other makes of cars. Funny thing i found J.B.Weld did the best job on those and you could never tell a repair has been made. Its some hard stuff to sand smooth, but hey it works.
    Good luck.

Yep. It's got to come off. besides there are also cracks there now as well as the indentation. Probably is repairable, but let a shop do it. The final appearance will be in the Prep work done. Final Paint matching should be a non issue with these new paints now anyway. But the Prep work is where the experience is needed.

Re: help my bird - general repair

Thank you WTX...Hmmm...any idea how much a new replacement rear bumper is going for and a good work shop manual? and for that matter how much a dented used one is selling for....probably a dealer question....is there any one outlet over another that has new parts? Our Ford dealership in Denver is Phil Long. Bird was purchased in Lake Worth Florida. Winter's in FLA, summers in CO. Always serviced @ Fla dealer. Sadly, it is only a Colorado car now. No idea where to look for parts. 32k miles, seasonal driving, need tires as well, suggestions.

I WOULD TRY TO PUSH IT OUT....seems like the bumper is plyable enough...what do you have to lose?
