    Re: High Preformance?

Dot, I found a pic of the car.

Go to the events gallery. May '04 has pics of the ThunderIsle event. The very first pic shows the black bird with hardtop on. You can see the oblong "Police Interceptor" plaque on the left fender. You can't read it in that pic, but maybe another one. Also, notice the different wheels. The windows maybe tinted.

Yes, ThunderIsle was held at Lake Lanier.

I found the car in my pics but none of the whole car, just his mods to it and yes, the police interceptor badge is on the car.

Yep. That baby belongs to Pete O'Rourke. He's a Member of the Space Coast Thunderbird Clu. And he is a Proffessor at a Local College here. He does his own work, his way. Really Ol'School. You should see his HotRod El Camino. I had the pleasure of following him all the way North to ThunderIsle in our little souther caravan. Got to tell you though, his home made Tail Lights drove me crazy following them. He also designed and build those custom Steel Wheels. Oh, he's 72 years young!!!!

The tail lights in the angle that the picture was taken do have a different appearence to them. I guess one has to just get accustom to them. I think over all it is a pretty sweet looking Bird.

Here's a close up of the tail lights:'
note that he painted the brow of the tail light - he also did the same to the headlamps.
              and of the wheels:

You can see the PI badge behind the wheel. Note the mod to the rocker panel

Sharp looking Bird. Those wheels were bought like that and he put the bird emblem on the dish cap . I talked to Pete a few years ago about the wheels, after I seen his car, on which wheels to install on mine

                        Re: High Preformance?

there is no way in hell a chip can go on the eec of the tbird. there is nothing to hook it to. and the idiots on ebay just sell you a $0.05 resistor for like 10000x what it costs them. it works, but at the cost of running the car dangerously lean, to the point that it will blow the motor in no time.

                        dont do it.

www.sctflash.com thats what you need to get to have a correct tune done to your car.

Has Anyone tried the product that goes in the air intake hose that claims to create a faster Air flow to the engine - Trade names 'Tornado' or 'Velocity Tuner'? I have seen the 'Tornado' in Auto parts houses for $69.00 The theory always made since to me BUT NOT AT $69 for what they were offering always seened way too much!
Now some one is offering them on E-Bay as 'Velosity Tuner' for $9.95 which is more like what I think they are worth! BUT seller doesnt offer one for a T'Bird?!?! Im sure threy come in Standard Diameter widths but again cant get seller to e-mail me back.
Has anyone ever tried one? They for sure couldnt hurt anything!
                          Thanks

Nope. They don't work. It's the same sort of gimmick as putting magnets on your fuel line to "align" the gasoline molecules for a cleaner, more efficient burn. Or, the so called "Fitch" fuel conditioner capsule that you drop into your gas tank and the state-of-the-art, space age ceramic somehow keeps your fuel fresher, and improves fuel economy. If these gimmicks worked, Ford would be using them as a cheap way to improve the fuel economy to meet epa/govt. standards. As a matter of fact, Motorcycle Consumer News reviewed the Tornado (there is a MC version) and it actually hurt performance (the dyno tells the tale, you probably wouldn't be able to tell via seat of the pants).

Keep your money, or better yet, replace your plugs.
If you want a product that does work, invest in a cold air induction kit (CAI). Of course, you will want to have your engine tuned afterword because it will be terribly lean.

                            hope this helps.
