WOW, all the things I wanted to know and did not know where to ask!
You are certainly taking this Thunderbird Blue seriously. It isn't 'Just another Car"
Look forward to meeting you in Ottawa.

Steve: What are you referring to when you say "Build #" 30,894 . You consecutive unit number should be 31,198 (the last five numbers of the VIN ) of the total Birds built for 2002..Where did you get these production numbers if you don't mind me asking.

Maybe I got it wrong. Dot told me mine was the 30,894 2002 built. Maybe the 30,894 is the built #, not the build #.

Another conflicking report that I recieved is how many 2002's where built. I found that Porthole Authority web site says 31,368 made and from Quickdraw, the total number was 31,121. Not sure....

The VIN is not the build or sequence #. On the upper jamb of the left front fender (drivers side), there is a white sticker with the VIN #. There is also a 4 digit # at the top right or lower right on the sticker that is the sequence #. They assign the VIN #'s in advance but don't build them in that order because they would have a blue one, then a red one, two black ones, etc. So they go down the list of scheduled VIN's and pick out 25, 50, or how ever many that are ordered the same color. Makes the assembly line flow so much smoother with all the same color. So thats why they assign a sequence #. Don't know the exact #, but somewhere around sequence # 9999 the 5th digit back from the right of the VIN changes to a 2 and the sequence #'s start over.

Right my number is 1014, and the sequence # is 9960 from what I was told. So 1014 + 3x9960 would make mine the 30894 built in 2002. this sounds right to me as they only made the 2002's for 7 days after mine was built.

              Steve,
if you read the previous messages on the thread you asked him the stats on, you will note the numbers posted for each year were posted back in 2005 - someone had brought up an old thread of his. He has since updated the stats but he can't edit his old posts. the 31368 is the correct #. He has them posted on another thread.

Lon, we were told back in 2002 that the "magic" number for the sequence # change was 9960 (I had to research that as it hasn't been brought up for quite awhile. it really does seem logical that there were only about 474 built after his since production on the 02s had slowed down quite a bit in a year's time.

to reinforce what Lon said about the VIN#s. The highest vin# for the 2005s is 109337 but there were only 9295 built.

The highest vin# for the 2002s is 31559 but the actual production # is 31368

                  Re: My stats complete now

Something that many of you may not have heard. Thunderbird Registry has fixed their data problems and are now adding new VIN# registrations. However, one must send an email to John with the required info. info is on the registry website - tbirdregistry.com

He does have a page on there where he shows a day's sequence of 2004 tbird's on the line:
                  http://www.tbirdregistry.com/sequence.asp
You can see how out of order the VIN#s are as they go down the line.

Treken; you can check with Dot but I believe the correct calculation of the numbers, as I was told is: Rotation #1014 + 9960 which would make you car the 10,974th TBird built in 2002.
                    Dot, is this correct?

                      Re: My stats complete now

                      Because his VIN 131198 would be the 3rd time around for the rotation #'s, it would be 9960 X 3 = 29,880 + 1,014 = 30,894.

Hi dot, I just registered mine and checked . I noticed there are 4 of the 474 2002's made after mine that are members here and registered them. I wonder how close they are to the end of the 02 production line?

has to match close to his vin# - with 31,000+ tbirds built of the 02s and his near the end, the rotation # flipped to 0001 three(3) times before his came along the line. That's why he has to use 3x9960 + his sequence # to get his build #
if somone's car was built early in 2001 - the sequence # is the actual build # - the vin# gives a person a clue as to how many times they need to multiply the 9960 and add to their own sequence #

Do you have more stats that you didn't post? I'm interested in how many '02 - '05 were sent to other provinces.
