Well we had a scare last week. Some of you might know Nancy went back to work after taking a year off, with our move to Big D. While driving to work last week her beloved bird overheated. Overheated so bad, computer was shutting down cylinders. so with lady luck on our side, she was on the work parking lot. She called me and I called my son, Chuck's Automotive in McKinney, we had the car towed (yes on flatbed). My son analyzed with computer and then checked water/antifreeze. It was dry, yes dry, only fluid was in the block. So further research showed the radiator fan was not blowing at full speed and thermostat was broken in pieces inside of housing. So I think we should have bought a lottery ticket, because we were so lucky no damage to motor. 47,700, miles is all we have on the bird, but when it's time for a part to go, it's time! No telling which part went first. We saw no warning on gauges, until it was already overheating the same day. Check your fluids!
So he replaced fan, thermostat and new Ford gold antifreeze and all's well. He said there was a Ford note out on these fan's, but no recall.
$453 for fan
Ended up putting new front brakes on too.
Have a great week!!!
