Max -- 95% of the Birds out there have the premium package. There were very few options available on these cars. And in 05' I believe the only options were choice of interior color, Hard Top, Tranny, and Heated Seats. I would have to check Dot's site but I think there wasn't even a Deluxe package offered in 05'.
Ok -- I checked and there was a Deluxe package offered in 05'. But I don't think I have ever seen an 05' Bird with a Deluxe package.

Max, I have been trying to figure out what you intend on doing with the TBird once you get it. You seem to be looking for a "Garage Queen", premium edition, special colour etc. with the hopes that it will bring big $$$$ in the future.
If that is the way you want to keep it, maybe you should also look at maybe buying one to use and enjoy as a summer toy as so may of us do and keep looking for that special one.
'Use them, don't abuse them' is my idea. My 82 LeBaron Convertible is a good example with 114,000 km (68,000 miles) has been used and enjoyed, still looks and runs almost perfect for 27 year old car.
Just my thoughts, hope you come and introduce yourself in Ottawa.

        Hi

I think the deluxe package might have been for the Canadian market which was in place of the premium if I recall. I don't think we had the Premium and had three trim levels but I can very well be incorrect. I just recall reading something about that. What is important to me is the originality of the paint and the color choice that I like next to the miles and condition. I am also only looking at cars that have the select shift transmission. Why I don't know, I just want it that way.

        Regards

          Hello All,

I am curious. Has these two colors been used on any other Ford models. If so then maybe I can find such cars locally to see them in person.

          Thanks

Max, I think the Cashmere color was used on some Lincolns, and maybe on the Ford SUVs, but I'm not positive.

Would the paint have been the same with the heavy metallic flakes or just the same same. I thought I had seen the mention of Cashmere color on some other models but I am curious if its the exact same or just the same hue and name.

                Thanks

I parked my Cashmere next to a new Expedition and the color was the same, but I do not know if it was called the same thing.

The Cashmere paint was definitely used on the Ford Expedition. Same name and paint code.

The PCR's Monterey Mist was used on a Mercury sedan and I think the Ford Explorer (may have been the Expedition) - I believe it was called Light Tundra on those models.

                      Hello Martin
I am sort of looking for a garage queen because it will be the closest thing I can get to a new Bird. If a 2009 model were available I would probably be considering. The advantage I see of having someone pamper it for 4 or 5 years and it almost be new with very low miles is to have 15-20K off the original sticker price. I have a few collectible cars that I enjoy, its a sort of hobby of mine. They don't get much use with a maximum of 2000 miles per year to as little as 400 miles per year on some. I don't expect this TBird to ever bring big bucks in the future or become a collectible like the first early ones. Those were sold and just happened and is why there are, these were sold to happen which means many bought them for this exact reason. In my opinion in 20 years there will still be too many to choose from.
My intention with this car is a little different then my other classics. I intend to drive and enjoy it a little more than my other cars but I just cant stand a non perfect car. So yes I intend to take a garage queen and use it. Imperfections just bother me and cause me to not enjoy my cars. If I am going to buy a higher mile car needing some paint work, maintenance, tires, breaks, seats refinished or dyed, etc etc etc I personally wont enjoy it till its all redone. Plus I will have spent half the money I saved anyway as I do not do any of my own work, so why not enjoy it from the start. Thats not to say I will just pay out any asking price, the deal needs to match the car and the market with a slight premium for its garage queen stature.
My priorities have also change some in resent years. Now that I have young children, I want something with a little more safety built into it. My 70's cars are not the safest things to be in. Its not for putting the kids in as they do not go in my "old" unsafe cars. Its for me to be safe and be able to return home to them each day and watch them grow up. What I see for me is the nostalgia of a late 50's early bird with the safety and comfort of recent. When this car was released in 2002 I was just wowed. I am still wowed today each time I see one. FORD certainly did something right.

Here is my 72 Triumph STAG, 36K miles. V8 Twin Carbs 4 Speed manual
In my opinion its one of the nicest true 4 seater convertible with both a soft and hardtop.

My 1972 AMC Gremlin Factory V8 49K Miles 3 Speed Manual

My 1974 Mazda RX4 Coupe 34K Miles automatic tarns

My 1988 BMW original M6 52K Miles 5 Speed manual

I am the second owner of all of them with the exception of the STAG. They are all original cars with original paint except the STAG. All its trim is original including the like new interior. I had all the trim removed, resprayed and then everything put back.
I also have a 1993 Mazda RX7 FD and the 1997 Subaru SVX. I am selling all of them except the STAG and the M6 and hope to add the TBird.

Maybe I will change my mind about using it so much after I have it but thats not my intention.

                      Regards

                      Max

                        Hello,

                        Great!

I think I will look into those and seek out these cars in ford used car lots. As for the Cashmere, I can now say that I have seen it and I think the Bird would look great dressed in Cashmere.

Don't anyone get me wrong here, I honestly do love the Bird in an color that was made, I just have to chose one and you all did.

Thanks for filling me in, now I see why you are looking for that special one, to be loved and enjoyed. Never thought that I needed a second convertible, but I am so glad I bought the retro bird, amazing how convertibles have improved in the 20 years between the 82 and 02.
