  • Center Stack Paint Color

I went ahead and bought the plastic door armrest cup holders for the doors on my 05 (black w/sand). I plan to have them painted to match the sand leather color of my seats. But before I do I'm considering the option of painting them the metalic bronze color used on the center stack of the 05 model. I want to find the paint so I can try a sample first.

Does anyone know what kind of paint and what color it might be. Is it actually painted or might the color be molded into the plastic?

    Hi Gary,

Is there not a problem having cup holders on your door? I'm thinking with the door opening and closing, slammed shut that it might eventually cause spillages. Am I understanding right?

Just me thinking again, I know how dangerous that can be....

    Gordon.

The bronze color is painted, not molded. Ford does not have any paint to match the bronze. I have not done this as yet but after spending much time investigating this I have come to the conclusion that the only option is to go to an automotive paint supply and have them match & mix the color. Since that will probably be a bit pricey I have not done it as yet.

I would like to put in an in-dash sound/Nav system but to do so I will need to paint the face place to match the rest of the center stack & thus the reason I have spent a lot of time trying to find the color already made up and in a squirt can.

Just wondered where you got them and what they look like, could you post a photo please.

It's not really a cup (drink holder) but that's what it's called in the manual. I got them at the Ford dealer.

Lonestar, when you find the color and get the paint for the center stack would you let us know the details? Thanks.

It would be more accurate to say, "thinking" instead of "doing". I have been "thinking" for over a year.

I didn't think the cashmere metal trim was painted the same bronze color that's used in the sand interiors?

I believe the plastic trim on the center stack and console is the same for the cashmere and say, the merlot with sand interior.

I thought the bronze coloring was just on the 50th Anniversary issues of the 2005's and the earlier models was more of a silver color but I may be thinking of the just trim pieces and not the center stack.

Well, here is the cashmere - anyone have a pic of sand accent? Naturally there is no telling how it will appear on different monitors.

For what its worth, I have a '05 brochure and it shows only one interior with the bronze center stack and it is called "light sand appearance package". The color choices do not list cashmere but do include bronze, which looks like cashmere to me and is featured on the cover picture. The light sand interior is listed as optional with all exterior colors, the all black, "black ink", being standard.

bronzey trim color goes with the sand interior only - 04s and 05s. The other colors except the special editions have a silver color.

Bill, I think we'd have to get the two side by side to compare. Next time we're at a local event and you're there with your cashmere and crmpuf is there, you can put the two side by side to check the colors.

We can also do it at CBT as i'm sure there'll be sand interiors there and cashmeres.
