Does anyone know what the color code is for the Blue on the Thunderbird's wings? If not, any idea where I might find the answer. Thanks!

This is not the answer you are seeking but I had a Ben Moore paint store match the color for some molding I put in my garage. Matches perfectly so if latex paint can be mixed to match it should be no problem for an automotive paint suppy to match the color.

Thanks Lonestar, but that paint won't work on a car.
Thanks Kevin, however, the blue on the wings is not TB (the same that is on the body).

Bruce, When I painted my center caps for the current wheels on the Inca, I ended up using the #444 Plaid paint that I had from years ago. Plaid still has it as Kevin pointed out.

It's a darker shade than the emblems on the cars but I felt the emblem was so small, that it needed a little more color definition so I went with the darker shade.

Before I found my old bottle though, I was able to mix three of my other acrylics and got an exact match to the color of the emblems - even testing it out on the car

Thanks Dot, Thats my next step, to take a spare emblem I have to an auto paint shop and see if they can match it. I was just hoping that someone might have done that already and saved some time. It needs to be a paint that can be applied to the body of the Bird.

              Re: Color Code

Benjamin Moore actually offers a color in their line up called Thunderbird. It's a little darker than what we would typically expect for this shade.

Check with Black Bird (Bunny Lou). I believe he had his top painted to match the teal in the Thunderbird wing logos.

Looks pretty cool on the black car.

Bruce - I think you misunderstood me... heavens not you can not use latex on on a car (well unless you live in some specific states)... my point was that is Ben Moore can match the color then an automotive paint supply surely could.

I wonder if the color Lou used on his hard top is an exact match to the color in the emblems?

                    Re: Color Code

I think the correct name for the color is Aqua Green or Turquoise. Becuase the Thunderbird was an Indian Symbol and many times made from the Turquoise found in the Southwest. Leroy

I had a Sherwin Williams auto paint store mix up a custom color that I took of the body emblem.

I have enough left over to paint my brake calibers....whatdaya think?

too many colors showing on car if you do that - right now, your avatar shows 3 colors - black, sand, and chrome.
