    REAR STABILIZER LINKS

    I had the rear stabilizer links replaced under warranty on my old 05 Bird, now I am having the same problem on the new 05. I found the invoice and the parts charge for the 2 links was $84.30, which I did not have to pay. After calling the Dealer yesterday, they tell me the cost, parts and labor will be $298.
    I would like to know if anyone has replaced their links and if the cost is in the ballpark? Seems a bit high to me.

    Haven't had this done, but this could be because do not know what are the symptons?
    Please share what were the tell tales as to why the stabilizer links need to be replaced MAYBE there is more out there going bad or weakening?

      I started a thread on this last year. I just had mine done along with some other work. I think the price you got is very fair.
      Unbelivable TBN trips including ALL of the lower 48 States plus 9 Canadian Provinces, 8 European Countries, 3 Caribbean Countries, Countless National Parks and have attended well over 100 TBN Events since 2001 and counting. Best of all ... fabulous friends.

        The symptoms I have had was a loud clanking sound at low speeds, under 20mph, on uneven pavement. David, I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing, Please advise.

            I didn't have any noises, but I did notice a deterioration of the ride. If you were hearing clanging, it must be the sound od metal against metal. If the rubber fell apart, that would cause the noises.

            Fortunately I sill had the rubber, or most of it, in place, so I never got to the point of metal on metal. This seems to be a common problem that should be addressed.

              I haven't looked under the car yet but with only 6600 miles I would'nt think the rubber would deteriorate. When I had the same sound coming from my other 05, they only replaced a part called link-stabilizer # FMC XW42-5C486 AA and 5C487 AA. and that took care of the problem. I am confused. I guess the only way to find out for sure is to take it to the dealer.
