  • to 02newbird - windshield replacement

I'm new to TBN and have a technical question.

I have a cracked windshield on my 2002 Bird and want to replace it with an identical windshield. Has anyone had experience with any replacement windshield. Any advice or tips to avoid? Are there OEM windshields or identical replacements available?

    Thanks,

    Bill (Phoenix)
With the 02 windshield, you'll need to find the replacement with the windshield wiperpark (heats the glass where the wipers rest when the outside temp is below a certain degree). It's more expensive than the other windshield. If your insurance policy covers replacement glass, go thru them but insist on the one with the FMC logo and Thunderbird logo. PPG makes all the glass for the Tbirds but I think it's Carlite only that markets the PPG windshield with the correct logos. I had no problem getting an OEM windshield for my 05 a year and a half ago.

Here's the thread message about Carlite:

.....PPG is the only manufacturer...all will be wired for the wiper heaters....some were manufactured without the T-Bird logo....and offered for less money....as there was no licensing issue with Ford..... Carlite and PPG are two different manufacturers...Carlite makes the side glass but PPG won the bid to supply the windshields....and if possible...find someone who has done an install...'cause it ain't like installing a 'shield in a '63 Chevy.....

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll do some checking for the proper windshield.
