I have made a few posts on my quest for better sound from my beloved TBird and have even tried the home made Borla that some of us have tried. I changed the stock system by removing the resinators and going with a straight pipe. it works but on a long drive I found the sound to be too much. the pitch was giving me a headache but I had to give it a try.
I purchased a Borla cat back system from a local speed shop and went to a local exhaust specialist and good thing I did. when I got there, he said it would be one hour charge to install the Borla and he was saying that it was a good product and quality.
So at this point, he removed my old system and started to lay the Borla out on the floor and we were very happy all the parts and clamps were there. he started the installation and the mufflers and pipes all went up in record time. then we unwrapped the right side resinator and the beautiful borla tips. the chrome tip had a small dent on it and he asked me what I thought. it was small dent and luckily it was on the bottom side and no one but me would ever know. I'm up in Canada and this thing was not going back to California for a small dent so up it went. looked great! now for the left side .....now the fun starts. the left was a right. the box was right from the factory and had never been opened, so by accident, a Borla employee had given me two right sides. OH NO, now what? well, it was good I went to this guy. he cut and fabricated the set up to work and moved the hanger to hold the exhaust up and rewelded it with a stainless steel weld. it all got buffed and looks great. this guy was a real Tradesmen, so all is well.
I called Borla and told them the story and that I had two right sides and they where very good about it and are sending me a new tip for the dented one and a t-shirt. The Borla experts told me that my retrofit has not changed anything in the system, both sides are the same. my speed shop has given me a gift certificate as well and I have a Great story to share with the guys about my exhaust.
So now, I ask, is there some one out there that opened their Borla Box to find out that they have to left sides?
Ron (Sumerbird) Love the Borla sound.
