The driver side wiper pivot shaft appears to have about a 1/4" end float (in and out) and wobbly. Is this the way it should be or is there some adjustment that can be made.

Re: Wiper shaft end float
Hi Ski,
Hey maybe some members here could use a boot removal tool as well. I can be contacted at grfax@shaw.ca.

Re: Wiper shaft end float
Hi George,
The pictures were good but did not show the pivot mount. I tried to get the wiper arm off the pivot shaft but it is on pretty tight. I did remove the black rubber cap and nut but the arm would not slide off. Need both arms off to get the plastic cowl off.

Re: Wiper shaft end float
Gene,
No vaseline, no crayon, no wax, no scratches to the car, and no broken snaps and besides - it's a tool no one else will have and a great convesation piece. I haven't shown my to my mechanic son yet but I put a "Snap On" sticker on it. Told Geoff it should have been "Snap Off".sigpic

Re: Wiper shaft end float
The tool is actually made from UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight) plastic. The material is normally used to provide frictionless sliding surfaces. The fork is sized to accomodate the 3/8" snap diameter while applying pressure to the lip of the button. It is wedge shaped so as it is pushed toward the snap it releases the cover. I paid $850.00 for the boot cover and was told to be careful has the snap can tear out of the cover. Some of the snaps are tight and without cleaning and lubing will tighten with age. I make these for Tbird owners only. Email me if you are interested.

Re: Tonneau cover tool
Hi Julie,
I see you were interested on the tonneau cover removal tool. I am still making these for Tbird owners. It's for peace of mind when removing the tonneau cover. The snap buttons can be stubborn and they get worse with age... and no there not male. I keep mine in the ash tray in the console. I can be contacted atgrfax@shaw.ca.
Will send pictures.
Regards,
OSS Commander

Re: Wiper shaft end float
Geoff, I haven't been reading the posts as often as I used to, and today was the first time I read of your tool. Thanks for offering them to our membership!
