Re: Just twelve million (probably won't be the daily driver)
WOW!
Our Dr up in WA had a red 57 Testa Rosa for years. He restored it slowly in the 70s & 80s - raced it once in Vintage races. Finally sold it in the early 90s for $6.2 million. He had been offered more for it but that was before he decided to sell. We rented an apt from them in the early 70s and it was stored in the garage at the rental - George has sat in it before it was ever restored. I don't recall ever doing that though and I never took a picture of it. It was eventually repainted Ferrari red and the factory had sent the Dr, the correct paint to paint it with. It had been one of four of the Team LeMans cars. I don't recall who bought it but it did pay for the Dr's clinic building and then some. 0h - he had bought it in the mid 60s at Leguna Seca as a wrecked car - for $18,000.Limited Edition databases for 007 msg..#26 , PCR sticky, and Cashmere msg.#64

Probably would have gone for 12.5 if it had a trunk mat, but then again it might have hit 13 because it would have had a trunk also...Bird is the word.....

Re: Just twelve million (probably won't be the daily driver)
The 1957 Testarossa is by far the ultimate Ferrari, and perhaps, the ultimate racer. This price beats the former record set about 20 years ago when Nick Mason (drummer for Pink Floyd) bought a red '57 for $10 million.
Nice to have that kind of money...

Well, if my calculations are right, based on an average price of $20K each, you could have 600 of our retro Birds for what this car cost. I don't think there is much of a decision here, other than where to park them and who to let drive them.sigpic

If you park at least 50 in NL I can organise TBN events and supply cars with it. All you have to do is fly in..Sometimes Birds travel far...

Thank you for the very gracious and generous offer. I just knew I could count on you. I will certainly consider this should the situation ever develop. My guess is that if it does, the cars involved could easily be held in one's hand.

Linda:
I think you'll get a lot of agreement on that here. Not to mention that they are easier to insure, service, etc, etc, etc.....

And probably get as much, or more attention. I've already had folks inquire if mine was a Ferrari.Last edited by Skip; May 28, 2009, 03:31 PM.sigpic

Re: Just twelve million (probably won't be the daily driver)
Some on here know what it is like to have 12 mil to spend if they desired - I, not so much. However, I beleive if I had 12 mil I would purchase 1 each of every color Thunderbird, build a climate controlled garage to house and detail them in, build a modest house to go in front of the not so modest garage, and bank the remaining 10.5 mil.Lonestar
