  • Welcome back!

Just wanted to say "hello" (and maybe bitch and moan a little) after re-joining the "nest". I was somewhat active a couple of years ago, even winning a Tbird of the month (when "she" was new), but not so much recently. I came back specifically to find info about installing a Sirius factory unit (getting into the dash ain't so easy), and of course found the info in a jiffy!

So anyway, looking at the posts and all the great pics of cars, I had 2 thoughts: 1) too bad the birds came with mostly all black interiors (except for the "specials"), and 2) I really should've bought that PCR back in '04.

OK, so I have an '04 Merlot with a merlot soft-top (which I understand was kind of rare), and I do love my bird, but I sure long for the days when cars had color coordinated interiors (other than black, off-black and tan). That's why I loved the PCR. I should've never let my wife talk me into the merlot.:D

Anyway, hi again to everybody, and happy motoring! Beep if you see me!

    Joe

        Re: Welcome back!

One of the first things we did with our Merlot w/Sand package, was to change out the soft top to Merlot. Maybe a look into reupholstering your seats to a corordinating color. But remember you DO HAVE the Prettiest Color out there!!

You are correct though, about the interiors, IMHO. I still believe the PCR was the best one ever done.

Yeah, but the only problem with seats only is that you still have a black dash, rug and doors. Oh, if I could just have a completely dusty rose interior. That would be hot!

Oh for the cars of the 50s, 60s and 70s, when the interiors were like living rooms, where seats, dash, doors and floors matched (even the steering wheel!), or is that where the carpet matched the drapes? Hee, hee.

Ski, I almost went with all black for that reason! ;)

I think my platinum with black accent looks great. I put that sirius kit in myself and fed the antenna wire from the downlink box in the trunk back up to the dash and mounted the antenna on top of the middle air ducts under the dash. Nothing visible at all works fine. Good luck with you install.

Mid 1950 Packard Caribbeans had reversible seats. If you got tired of the color, you could flip the seats over to a different color style.

I'm pleased with my Black/Saddle combo, but I still think that a litte bit more saddle would have been nice.

You don't see many TBirds with saddle interiors, since it was a one year option and only available on Black or Gray Birds.
