Nope, just froze up pumps both times. Probably from sitting. Made my own tool and changed it myself. First one under warranty Ford replaced and someone hit the front bumper in their shop. $300 to repair.

what part of, cars( by definition) are made to be driven...do you people not understand .....long time storage of a gas engine...lawn mower,snow blower,chain saw,electric generator ( i do them all during the year) and i do them by the book...and its still a crap shoot when you want to restart them. I live in eastern washington....last year we had 100 inches of snow...i still went out in the garage and started the bird once a week...and when the roads were clear (wet but clear) i would take it out for a little spin....keep everything working....just my opinion

I tend to agree, a car is meant to be driven to last. Just sitting there 6 days out of 7 will even give you problems in the long run...

tootpie, Might be the gas you're using if it contains Ethanol. Ethanol will erode the seals and gaskets in a fuel pump in cars that aren't designed to run on Ethanol. Some gas additives that contain alcohol will do the same thing. Leroy

Question - we went to Kansas (from Indiana) over the weekend and stopped at a gas station in Missouri. I put in 91+, but the pump said Ethenol (sp) but not sure if that was for all grades or not. The issue is some mid-west states might not sell gas without alcohol (not sure about Premium) so what is the alternative? Sort of sounds like one could be SOL if that is the case.

Could be the fuel but you would think an 02' would have been built for newer fuel.

Piece of crap 03' lincoln pump went out also. No problem with my 57' bird and 57'chevy. Just new electric pumps in tanks.

A few years ago I had a fuel pump go out on a 92 Linc. Town Car w/ 190,000 miles on it.
When I asked what, if anything, would make it just suddenly go out, the Lincoln tech asked if I ever ran the tank down low before filling. I replied,"very often", on the road I may go until the first chime sounded at 50 miles to go. He said don't do that. The pump is cooled by the gas in the tank. I replied to him, "with 190,000 miles on it under those conditions, just think how many miles I might have gotten on the pump if I had not run it so low so often! :)
