OK, I've looked at a number of threads re xFM/Sirius but unable to find anything on the 02. Any direct options (not FM tuner)?

You're probably not finding info as the radio for the 02 was not set up to receive Sirius.

Are you aware of any way other than thru an FM modulator?

I wonder if swapping the radio unit for a more recent one (like an '05 maybe?...) would work?

Absolutely not. Completely different wiring harnesses in the 04 and 05 then in the 02 and 03 and retrofitting is probably more involved than anyone would want to do.

For 02 & 03, and if wanting not to use an FM modulator then the only option is probably an aftermarket headunit with XM / Sirus capabilities. Naturally then you would have to add adapters if you want to retain factory steering wheel controls.

              Lonestar,
Do you have more information on how hard this swap out would be? I was considering doing the same thing to get the SAT but keep the OEM look. Is changing the wiring harness from an '02 to an '04 or '05 really a big ordeal?

                Re: 02 xfm/sirius

Deborah, I doubt Lonestar will reply. His post about the harness swap is a few years old. Lonestar was a wonderful resource for all of us, however he is rarely on the site as he has sold his beautiful Cashmere 05.

However he is very correct in stating the that the harness switch from a 02 to the 04-05 harness would be a huge ordeal. The entertainment harness is not independent of the complete dash harness, it is part of the complete dash harness. The entire harness would have to pulled & the new put in.

I suggest contacting Crutchfield's, Google them to get their 800 # and talk with them. They will probably have exactly what you will need without changing anything out but only adding to what you have.

                  Re: 02 xfm/sirius

I have an 02. I plan to buy an aftermarket radio. I believe this is the best solution for the lack of AUX inputs with the factory radio.

You can still have the stearing wheel controls by adding an adapter that cost from $70 to 140. If you use the right bezel. Get a radio that has choices in the LED screen colors. I think you will have an installation that does not look like a Hack job! The sound quality will be better than factory. You will also have the option of using the preamp outs for powered base speakers.

Thanks, Mike. I am new here and not sure who is active or not.
It seems there should be a harness that will bridge the two connector types between the '02 and '04-'05's. I will dig further as I'd like to put a later model head unit in for the satellite-ready feature. I'm thinking something like a Scosche fdk106 connector might work. I'm not giving up yet.

Like I said call Crutchfield's. I believe they will make up that bridge harness.
