  • Barrett-Jackson 03 T-Bird

This was in the July issue of Automobile. Car sold for $33,550. Only has 4 miles. Brought in $10,000 more than experts expected. Possibly a one time event, but might be an indication of things to come.

OK, so this is a 35 year old car. So if I sell my 2003 Thunderbird when it's 35 years old, that will be 2038. I'm 45 now so I'll be 75 then! I'll be old but most on this board won't even be here by then.

      I thought it was a 2003 model on Barret-Jackson?

Greg.... it was the T-Bird, not the BMW.

Just for kicks I priced out a corvette on the web ... 7 grand off sticker... my T-Bird is worth between 11,000 and 16,000 04 with 40,000 miles .. interesting that mine is depreciating and GM is going belly up.... You just never know ..

I wasn't able to increase the size of the article when I scanned it from the magazine, so there might be some confusion as to what car I am referring to. It's the 2003 red Bird in the photo.

I had the merlot, Scarlett, appraised today and was VERY surprised the NADA was $25,950 ... Maybe there is something to the Automobile appraisers opinion that our cars maybe a sleeper collectible.

Several Retro Birds have already gone accross the Block and have sold in low to mid 30's. They expect many more to cross as the years pass. I suspect the values will rise as time passes. The experts predict that time will be kind to these cars. We'll see......

Ok, I guess I was confused. I thought you were referring to the BMW.

Still all boils down to how determined to buy the buyer is, and how desperate to sell the seller is. Could easily see a 5k spread on two identical cars based on above factors.

Brian Metzger and Cal Ellison are wearing out "Annie". She has over 38,000 fun miles on her now and will probably get another 4,000 before Brian returns to Canton,MI and before Cal gets back to Charleston, SC.

Posted in Salinas, CA and on the way to YOSEMITE!

P.S. The value may be depreciating but the time spent driving is FUN,FUN,FUN.

Good for you, Brian & Cal ...

I have slowly come around to your way of thinking: Drive it and enjoy it.

You've come a long way, my man! Think of what you missed saving those miles on the cars you don't even own anymore. Glad to know you aren't making that same mistake with the current batch!

Funny that the one mentioned at the beginning of this thread lost several thousand dollars in "value" while acquiring 4 whole miles. Just think of the fun that was missed while it sat there going nowhere.

You are right, Paul ... I understand from LaVerne and another friend in Richmond that the fella who bought the 03 Raven is driving it regularly.
