Nice installations guys!! Can either of you give me info on the installation kit used??
Mine was the Lincoln LS/TBird faceplate (LN1329B, available online from installer.com for $14.99, but the local installer also had it in stock for the same price). Everything else was whatever hardware came with the nav unit itself. Don't think there was anything else special that had to be used for it.
There are wiring interfaces so you don't cut into the Ford wiring harness and also a controller interface for the steering wheel controls. I also have the Sirius receiver that is controlled by the unit. Everything is touch screen and seemless.
Paul: We just got back from Canada on Saturday night. Next trip -- NOVA SCOTIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What did you do about the speakers? I'm installing a Kenwook multimedia and was surprised by the back speaker combination. What has anyone done with there speakers. Looking forward to any imput.
I put new speakers in the rear, but left the Ford door speakers alone. They are actually pretty good speakers, it's the rears that are a joke.

The were the 5x8 I think...they fit the rear holes with no mods. I forget the make, but they were premium 3-way speakers with an adjustable tweeter in the center. I aimed it to the sides.

David is right.
The rear speakers are a joke (and in my opinion:a fraud). They are 2 1/2 inch speakers in a 5" x 8" enclosure. Not much larger than a US Quarter Dollar (as shown in picture below). After seeing Ford's bottom of the line smoke and mirrors here I changed out all my speakers with the exception of the woofer when I upgraded to my Pioneer Z2 in dash navigation system. I love the sound and consider it the most enjoyable mod on the car.
I left the speakers alone when I changed my radio. You really can't go by speaker size anymore, look at the systems Bose and Yamaha have. It's all about design.

I also replaced the rear speakers, but left the rest of them alone. That made a world of difference. I may eventually replace the others, but for right now I am very satisfied. I also went with 5 X 8's, Bostons.
The factory whoffers are fine, as is the amp. Just make sure you get the separate connector to make them work. As I recall, there are 2 separate connectors you will need. Changing the rear speakers really made a world of difference.

You guys are cruel...luring me into a desire mode with new toys! But, since I have the dash kit on mine, I don't think I can take the plunge anyway (the wood grain), as it would totally mess up the configuration unless I could somehow match it up with the lincoln plate (and get the seller...if I can remember who it was...to sell, or cut, just that plate)....anyway, something to drool after! I am so used to a GPS (in dash) in my Prius (Daily driver) that the idea of taking the Tbird anywhere actually fills me with dread if I don't know the way (this from a woman who used to work in outside sales and rarely used a map...what happened to me? Oh yeah, RELIANCE...you get used to something!).
It looks great, bet it sounds awesome and I'm green with envy!
CatBrd2 is the new license tag! Meowgal was moved to the Prius.
