I recently bought a beautiful 03 T Bird. The miles are fairly low and the car seemed to be in great shape. I bought it from a Ford Dealer in Dallas Texas and purchased and extended warranty. I had driven less than 200 miles when I started having shifting problems with the Transmission. After haggling with the warranty people, the transmission is being repaired and I am hoping to pick up the car tomorrow.

Has anyone experienced transmission problems with their Bird at such low mileage?

Not with either of my T-Birds, but we just had the clutch & flywheel replaced in the Shelby w/ only 12K (mostly highway) miles, and it was determined that the clutch was faulty from the factory. Could be the case with your transmission...nothing you did...just wasn't right from the beginning.

The 03s have had a shifting problem, usually noted by an E code showing on the dash instead of 2,3, 4 or 5 on the dash depending on the gear you were in. There have been a few other tranny problems but much more sporadic than the E code. The E code usually showed up at around 3,000 miles but some have reported it happening as late as 20,000. How many mles on your car?
do a search here on E code problem or transmission problem and you may come across the discussions.

Was'nt there a TSB for that or was it the 04s that needed the additive?

My guess is your Bird needs to have a computer update.
Which Dealership did you purchase your Bird from?
