  • Carson trip

Yesterday at 6AM Karen and I left Tacoma for a ride to Carson City to visit with family there, it was a good trip.
We stopped in Salem, OR. for out first break, had a coffee for me and an OJ for Karen at McDonalds, we headed out and decided to have lunch in Grants Pass, OR. and fuel up for the remainder of the trip, (it took 15.5 gallons to fill the tank). It had been kinda chilly up to that point but we (I) decided to put the top down there as it had warmed up above 60 by then, well that lasted for about ten miles and it started to rain so back up went the top, it went back down again after we hit HWY 89 and stopped for some pictures. We made it into Susanville, CA and had dinner at "HART's Cafe",That is where Pam, Ken and I Had Lunch on our way to the first "Do The TAHOE" rally.
It was pretty smooth sailing for most of the trip, we hit Portland, OR. during rush hour and several road work areas in all four states, I expect the same on the way home this coming Friday.
We are staying at the "Gold Dust West" here in Carson, right now my sister and Karen are in the casino gambling
1 Time to put top down again

Karen just won a prime rib dinner so now I need to have her try for another one so I won't have to eat alone.

Gosh Dot what make's you think that???

she did win another dinner so I will have her company for dinner tomarrow, my sister and brother in law will also be there, not sure if any more of the family will show up or not.
So far we are having a good time, much deserved for Karen as she just does not get this kind of opportunity very often, I just told her Monday afternoon we were going.

                Re: Carson trip

Thanks Dave; we are now on our way back home, I decided that it would be better to leave Carson late in the morning so we could have breakfast together and visit a little more before we took off so I made reservations in Grants Pass for the night.
We had quite a bit of rain today so we kept the top up for most of the trip; we finally saw some deer in CA just north of Weed on I-5, all those back roads in the woods and mountains and we had to see them on an interstate.

                  Re: Carson trip

What a great trip, Karen had a much deserved vacation and I don't think she was quite ready to come home, I had to just about pry her from those silly machines in the casino.
We had a nice trip home, did get some top down time on the last hundred miles; total miles was 1565 and we used 62 gallons of gas at $3.03 average price.

Sorry I had to work yesterday and couldn't meet you and Karen for lunch...maybe when I come to the Sea-Tac area to visit my brother we will get a chance to meet up.

                        Re: Carson trip

The top in Vegas was Ash, from Rose's sadly departed PCR. Given we couldn't get a relay and she found another local buyer with a beautiful mountain gray I decided that it was best for her to let it go. I was referred to another one in northern California that is bronze and will have to be painted (I think an expert referred to bronze on red as mustard on ketchup . So that is the new plan....I'm thinking a stop in the Napa Valley is in order on a road trip next week.
