Heresy! Costco Wool Seat Covers on Cashmere!!

Retro Fans:
I committed the ultimate, tacky sin to try and keep my white leather clean… I installed Costco beige wool seat covers at the bargain price of $15/seat. Great price!
I couldn’t even find decent seat covers at that price. The color is more yellow than I would prefer but then, I purchased them for their functionality over the long haul not for their technical authenticity. I’m not going to any car shows and if I do, they come off in less than a minute.
And, they are more comfortable than hot leather in the summer.
I put a little leather cleaner/conditioner on the seats before covering them. I know it might offend some…. But they do a great job of protecting the seat bottom and edge from grinding in dirt.
P.S. They also come in a dark gray.

say it isn't so! why not line your windshield with little hanging cotton baubles too! and put a matching big furry cover on the steering wheel too! the tiger seats in post #2 were a bit overkill, glad you didn't do that!

You could have gone with the thick clear plastic like your mom used to put on the good furniture to protect it back in the 60's. Talk about an experience. Here in the South, when you sat on that in the summer you had to get a spatula to pry yourself off of it. Loved the sound it made when you got up -- SCHLLLLLLPPPP!!!!!

Enclosed is picture with Australian Sheepskin seat covers. Ignore the horns on the hat and the bling jewelry.... more about that in a future post.

This was taken just before my weekly theraphy. The clashing colors help fight off the depression... according to Doc. The chocolate on the shirt indicates I just had dinner.

You could have gone with the thick clear plastic like your mom used to put on the good furniture to protect it back in the 60's. Talk about an experience. That brings back some memories. When we got the brand new '59 Galaxie 500, my dad had those clear vinyl seat covers installed to protect the tri-color upholstery - one of the 3 colors was white. I don't know how we survived trips in the summer with no a/c and my dad smoking in the car. But thinking back, it never seemed so bad at the time.

The covers go pretty well with that hat!


White is a challange........ Very tough to keep clean.

Even an "off" white like the Oyster colored leather in my old Corvette can be tough but the seats still look pretty good 13 years after I last reupholstered them.

Leather cleaners and conditioners made by "Mother's" or "Maguires" keep 'em both clean and conditioned.

To me the biggest problem with leather seats, of any color, isn't so much keeping them clean as it is preventing those inevitable first cracks and tears in the stitching for as long as I can.

I'd actually be interested in knowing what others do to protect there seats.........beyond the covers and the cleaners we've talked about here already.

When I'm driving in shorts, I usually put a t-shirt or hand towel on the front of the seat under my bare legs to keep sweat/body oil from getting on the leather. Also, if someone riding with me is wearing a leather belt, I make them put a shirt or towel between their belt and the seat so the dye on the belt won't get on the seat (my Dad made a mark on the seat with his belt the first time I ever drove the car - I've learned!!). Those white seats in the Cashmere are beautiful, but not the easiest to keep clean!

In all fairness. Anyone who has colored seat inserts should NEVER NEVER ever, where Blue-Jeans in there Birds. It is a "B" to clean them from the Denim.

And Carl, they do look ok. Talk about weekly theorapy, wait till you see my upcoming posting what I did. And right after a session too!!!!!!
