new to the board. i have a 90 gt mustang 5 speed, and a 01 grand cherokee. from richmond va, im 20 and go to radford.

my grandmother passed away a while ago and out of her estate i got her 03 thunderbird with 17,941 miles on it. its black, has a hard top on it, white inserts in the seats and the steering wheel. i dont know what packages it has or whatever, it has a battery that was put in it in 07, it had to be jumped, but the sticker says oil change is due at 20k, and all the fluids seem fine. it drives great too. only 2 problems i see so far is the passenger window, when you open the door and the window is supposed to roll down then back up when you close it, what it does is it rolls down about 2 -3 inches when you open it, then sits still, but when you close it it doesnt go back up, and if you open the door again, it goes down 2-3 more inches, and stays put and doestn go back up, and the window will roll itself down. and the driver door lock actuator must be shot, when you press the button down its locked, and when you pull the inside door handle it unlocks and opens but when you hit the power lock switch on the door it only doesthe passenger door. wont lock or unlock it, same with the keyless entry, just the passenger side works.

any ideas as where to start?

what do most people do to these cars, just make them look spiffy or go faster? me being a mustang person and all... id like to do some stuff to it, but as of right now im pretty sure all i wanna do is tint the windows.

thanks for the help. im gonna go look around for a little

Window problem is an easy fix.
    From your owner's manual:
If a window loses its calibration, your short drop
feature will lower the window, but will not raise it again when the door is
closed. To re-calibrate the window, press the up switch to raise the
window until it completes its travel and hold the switch down for 2
    seconds.

Another possible effect of lost calibration is that the feature
may not lower the window. To re-calibrate the window in this case, lower
the window until it completes its travel and hold the switch down for 2
seconds. Immediately after releasing the window down switch, press the
up switch to raise the window until it completes its travel and hold the
    switch down for 2 seconds.
suggest doing a search on the door lock problem on this site. Never had the problem myself so don't remember what is going wrong but it may require a new part on that door.

Not much can be done for improving speed so most opt for louder exhausts - Borlas; and a CAI in the engine compartment.
Many enjoy adding bling to the car.

      Michael:

If you have a manual, sit down and go through it. You'll find most of the answers there.

      If not.

The remote door lock will only unlock the driver's side on one push. Push it twice to get both doors.

The window needs to be re-set. Put it down and hold the down button for ten seconds. Raise it and hold it again for the same duration.

Could be you may need a battery if the window continues to give you problems.

Go to Thunderbird garage and browse around for mods to the car. Borla or Magnaflow exhaust systems, CAI systems, Excal retunes, etc. It's a pretty small V-8 at 241 cubic inches but it can get out of its own way with some routine mods. Runs out of torque at higher RPM's but has enough HP to get there quickly.

If the car was sitting for an extended period of time (more than a few months) I recommend strongly you get teh oil changed right away. Its the cheapest and yet the most effective engine maintanance you can do.

A new battery will definitely fix this if charging the battery and re-calibrating the windows does not.

Did you get it fixed? Mine started doing the same thing today! Has the original battery (2002) so maybe it's time for new one.

If you tint the windows, we won't be able to see the smile on your face every time you get behind the wheel !!!
