small tag holder on that allowed me to lower tag some and
see grille competely and clean it a lot easier..
Of course I had to put two new holes in bumper and relocation
of tag still covered orginal screw holes..
I like the look a lot better and makes front grille showing completely
    look cleaner.
In Ontario Canada, we need the front plate and after reading about lowering the origional, this is what I done, and yes, looks alot better seeing the whole grill.

You do have to modify and trim plate holder with a utility knife to form the shape of the bumper, also 2 new wholes, but worth the little time seeing the grill nice and clean now. I even put some 3M door trim on just to dress it up abit.

Steve: What about painting the plate bracket the colour of the car now ? One person up our way with a '02 yellow did that. I think you can see it on Dot's site under '02 plates. (porthole authority)

I think this is the picture you're referring to, Martin.

If anyone is looking to fill in the bumper wholes, Steve Legel has written an extensive article for The Script (ITN magazine) on the proper way to do the job. I'm sure he would share if contacted.

Steve has probably posted that article here at one time. Might take an advanced search though to find it.

Just curious. Your "Ontario based" TBird has the supplemental lights and I thought Canadian cars were not allowed to have them. My car was originally a Ford executive car that had the black plastic where the lights are mounted. I was told that it was built to the Canadian specs. What's the story?

The lights where bought from the Ford dealer and installed after buying the car. They do not come with the car in Canada, but is an option.

Wow! Hard to undertsand why plate frames weren't all installed that way from day one.

That really does look much better.

                        Heya Rex,

How much did this cost you? Did you get this done at a Ford dealership? What did they use as a filler?

Would like to know because may want to do the same thing.

Summit racing sells a retractable bracket like the street roders use about $130.00

East of Austin.....my boss just bought a Boxter S and there's nowhere to put a front license plate. During a state inspection, he was told (unofficially, of course) that if he carries the front plate under the seat to show if he is stopped, he shouldn't have any problems. So far, so good.

I took my mount off. I drilled new holes in the license plate to match the holes in the bumper, trimed the plate with door trim & bolted it on,Looks real nice and not as bulky, It is now mounted below the grill with a slight bend matching the bumper. sorry no pictures, No camera
