  • Has Anyone Removed Their Front License Plate Bracket?

There are 2 large screws holding the front bracket on. If they are removed, can they simply be rescrewed in again... or is there some other nut holding them on? When I go under the car, the end of the screw is not visible and I cannot see a nut.

Has anyone else removed the front bracket? Any problems?
    thanks

I took mine off last week to put the front cover on I got from T-Bird Concepts. Yes -- Just unscrew them and they screw right back in the same holes.

Sorry - can't help you. I never installed my front plate. I've been bucking the law now for 5 years and counting.

First thing I did was to remove the front plate and bracket when we got our 2004. I had the holes filled in and repainted. I've passed our state inspection now for the last 3 years with no problems

I live in NJ and we have to have a front tag..
                Wish we did not..
But orginal tag frame covered some of grille and I put a
small tag holder on that allowed me to lower tag some and
see grille competely and clean it a lot easier..
Of course I had to put two new holes in bumper and relocation
of tag still covered orginal screw holes..
I like the look a lot better and makes front grille showing completely
                look cleaner.

Both my 03 and 05 Thunderbirds had the front license plate already mounted when I acquired them. Since they were already on the car, I would rather leave it on than have to plug up holes.

Glad I live in hillbilly land no front plate required so no holes in fromt bumper. I don't think I could put holes in my bird anyway.

Removed mine last year. One on the members here recommended I use some kind of small plastic nut I bought in Home Depot. Fits nicely and use touch up paint to blend into body.

I wish I didn't have to have it on, but VA law requires it. Since I work for the Mayor of Richmond, seems it might be a good idea to follow the law, huh? PLUS, mine did come with it on and it would take some filler, etc. to remove it. If it had NOT come with it on, I would have "ignored" and hoped for the best.

Live in VA also, never put mine on, got one ticket in almost 7 yrs now after 87,000 miles, $79. Well worth the cost of 9 one-hundredths of a cent per mile. The state trooper who gave me the ticket was a real cranky bastard. Made his day I think. He also gave me a verbal warning for the fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror, LMAO.

In Texas we are required to have a front lic. plate. However, I did not want to put holes in my bumper. Here is my solution:
