    Re: Fast Engine Idle

FAST IDLE @ 1000 + RPM OCCURRED STOPPED AT LIGHT, PULLING INTO THE GARAGE AFTER RUNNING FOR AN HOUR OR TWO, ETC. (ALL OF THE TIMES THAT IT SHOULD BE RUNNING AT 750 RPM.) SINCE IT CORRECTED ITSELF YESTERDAY IT IS IDLING NORMALLY AT ALL OF THESE TIMES. SINCE THE FAST IDLE STARTED WHEN I PICKED THE CAR UP FROM THE DEALER AFTER THE COPS AND THROTTLE BODY WERE INSTALLED, MY ASSUMPTION IS THAT IT WAS SOMETHING TECH DID DURING THIS SERVICE. DO THEY USUALLY ADJUST THE ECM WHEN THEY DO THIS TYPE OF SERVICE?

It may have adjusted itself since it is drive-by-wire on the 03s thru 05s I believe.

Could this have been "the car and PCM has to re-learn the driving habits" as with the auto tranmission shift points ?

Sounds like a broken caps lock key.

Keeps your computer's keyboard in upper case letters.

Earl, I would guess it's a matter of the car re-learning. If it's OK now then that is probably it.

Not the same car but my F-150 would have an idle problem if I disconnected the battery for a few start-ups. Afterward it was fine again.

                  Re: Fast Engine Idle

THANKS GUYS. I AM GOING WITH THE COMPUTER RELEARNING THEORY. CAR IS STILL ALL GOOD. AFTER 8 YEARS, STILL LOVE TO DRIVE IT- A UNIQUE TYPE OF RIDE: "RELAXED SPORTINESS" (WHATEVER THAT MEANS)..

BTW DOUG , REGARDING THE BROKEN CAPS LOCK KEY, I WAS ALWAYS TOLD THAT "THEY ARE NO GOOD IF YOU HAVE TO EXPLAIN THEM"

                      Re: Fast Engine Idle

I agree, this is an intelligent PCM which is programmed to re-learn such things as when to idle, normal idle. Etc. Your likelt going to be OK.
