04 Red 59,900 miles #2 and #5 coil. They also replaced left hand oxygen sensor.
COPS were free they charged me $100 deductible on the extended warranty
for the sensor. I bought the Bird in August 2006 with 33,500 miles on it.

i had one cop go bad on my lincoln towncar and lincoln wanted $1100 to replace the cop and all the brake pads i paid $75 for the read out to find which one was bad and went to pep boys and bought one cop and all new shoes for a total of $79 and did the job my self the pad were not bad and the cop was easy to change I never trust a new garage as i worked in one for 20 years and could tell a few storys carl
knock on wood, Martin. Rick (worldclasswheels) didn't have cop problems until after 100,000 miles (not sure of when he had to replace some of his)
Not to get cocky or anything but while the '04 had it's first Cop go bad earlier this year at 27,000......the '02 now has 52,000 miles and still no issues.......call me paranoid but I have a full set of replacement COPs in a cabinet in the garage though .......just in case.
04 VMG 50K miles .... 3 coils went bad over a period of 3 months. All 3 replaced at no charge by Ford under recall 07M07/07N09. Nice to be back running on all 8 cylinders.

Yeap, I'm with you......52,000 and (touch wood) no problems so far on my 02. I have been wondering if the change is the engines in 03 while producing more BHP and produced some problems for the COP's.
nope, Gord, just hold your breath and keep knocking on that wood. Just check out the polls on the COP threads in the COP forum. My 02s started going out at 40,000 miles, you know, just miles after the basic warranty went out and that was back in 2004 (but we got the extended warranty so were covered). Some have reported less miles, others more on their 02s.
now translate the miles to Kilometers and that would put mine at 64000km when they started going out and it was downhill for the next 50,000 miles 'til George replaced them all at once.

Sure Dot now your gunna jinks me!
So far at 52,000 miles thats 83,000+ kilometers the only thing that blew was the right rear tail light bulb and that happened last week in Chattanooga. (another interesting thread)
So I will send you the bill if/when I have that problem.
So hold your breath and rember to Knock, Knock!!!
Who's there? Its the
Just had mine go out over the weekend at 41,000 miles. It was probably only missing in one cylinder--only felt it slight hesitation when idling--then the check engine light came on. I go and pick up FEsTbrd tomorrow. They are replacing all 8 coils and some seals. All under warranty he said on the phone. Maybe it is the water exposure -- Program 07N09 -- of the extended warranty letter. I will get all the details when I pick it up. I guess this came from the early season really heavy rain we had last week. My car sat out for a couple of hours while I was at the dentist. The only other time it has been in close to that much rain was coming back from Santa Barbara III in 2005.
After reading the threads I see I'm not alone on multipile replacements of COP. Have an 04 with 35K. It is in the shop now for the 3rd COP. The most frustrating problem was it took 5 days for the repair. First time two days and they swear no code and could not find the problem. Week later it acted up the emission light lit up I drove it straight to the dealer and kept it running so the Service Advisor could see it this time. It took em a day to diagnose, a day to get the COP and a day to install. Also they said they did not know of the extended warranty and wanted my copy of the letter. I had to have em search Ford database to find it. I know it is small town dealer, but not super service for Ford.
