  • Smiles again!

Back to passing out smiles! Our 2003 Desert sky blue T’bird, Sonrisa, is once again bringing out the best in folks in our small town as we cruise. We’re greeted with smile after smile!

June was a month without sunshine or at least without an easy smile on our face—no Sonrisa. However, there is no doubt that we live in a small town….and that’s not just figured from counting heads.
You know you are in a small town in the Southwest when you look up from being blindsided by a kid pulling out from a parking space on Main St. and all you see in either direction are pickup trucks. A hastily made call to Dad, a car medic at a local body shop, and the young man is admonished that this was not what the Dad had in mind when he told his son to send some business his way. Now the Mom’s arrival on the scene caused greater consternation for the young man. In one fell swoop, out gushed the motherly concern: “Are you alright, honey?” Next came reality checks in the form of “You know we will talk about this more at home!” and “You realize that as well as wrecking my SUV and driving it without my permission that you took out my dream car! Why, just last week I took a picture of this car in the Albertson’s parking lot!” Yep, while I was cruising’ the grocery aisles Sonrisa was in a photo shoot.
As Sonrisa was towed across town, the Mom insisted on giving me a ride to work. One month to the day later Dad called from the body shop with the good news of Sonrisa, “She’s ready to cruise again!” We missed the official 4th of July parade by just a hair but in our small town, we are a parade wherever the Sonrisa takes us.

Blessings, and many, many, safe, colourful and fun miles to come!

The other day I was driving through a parking lot with the top down and these 2 young boys that were walking with their parents and almost triped over each other looking at our Merlot and I could just bearly hear one saying to those around him that there goes one of those new Lexus. I have no idea where he got that idea.
