The most obvious, if you don't have access to the original paperwork or owners, would be to check around the back of the soft top (when up/or not) approx 1/2 inch around on the metal portion and see if there is any indication of a rub mark from the hart top seal that is usually left in the paint.

All that would tell him is that it has had a hardtop on at some point in time. Wasn't there someone on this board who could use the VIN to get the original configuration and get a copy of the original window sticker? If that service is not available, I don't know how you could find out, but go to Dot's site (Porthole Authority) and maybe there is an easy way to answer the question.

Actually, the most obvious for an 05 owner is if it lacks the seat heater switches on the center console, below the radio. The deluxe models did not come with hardtops in 05 adn they also didn't come with the seat heaters.

Dot & Quickdraw need to get back in the Window Sticker Biz. I still love having mine. I know Ford has resized theirs, but there has to be a way to get the right size ones created for aftermarket, if there's enough interest.

Quickdraw doesn't have access to them anymore. One could be put together from scans of original windows stickers and modified to fit particular cars but I dont know how Ford's copyrights would come into play on doing them in a mass scale. I'm sure they wouldn't want used car lots duplicating them like that.

Not sure but you might inspect the hardtop pin recepticals for wear or signs of use and check for the ware on the two front screws for the hardtop for wear (shinny threads)etc. Was there a hardtop tool in the glove box???

YOU CAN TAKE THE VIN TO A FORD DEALER AND THE PARTS DEPARTMENT CAN PRINT ALL THE OPTIONS AND BUILD INFORMATION ON YOUR CAR.

Never thought of trying that, Ron. Thanks for the heads up.

If someone can provide basic scans of the different types of window stickers, we can maki our own by filling our own, specific to car's specs. I did this with my 1993 Volvo 1800ES, printed it and pasted it to the back window -- looked quite nice. Anyone game?
