It depends totally on whether you want your wife in the car or not. It does help (depending on the direction of the wind). Don't ask me about whether or not it's worth it to have your wife in the car. I'm in trouble now.

Well, as my New England friends all know, I have had the same windscreen on both my birds for almost five years now. It's not that effective in blocking the wind, but I like the look. I purchased it on ebay from someone in North Carolina I beleive. With it, I also purchased a big Thunderbird decal that fills the entire top of the plexi-glass screen. It's this big white Thunderbird that I love the look of. I keep the windscreen on all the time. With the hard top on or off. I only take it out to clean it for shows. You can see the big Thunderbird through the rear window and I do get a lot of compliments from other car owners....Just thought I would put my two cents worth into this thread.....

On the AOL news today there is an article about the 2 Million dollar Bugatti Grand Sport. The car has a built in windscreen behind the seats that not only protects you from the wind at speeds of 253 MPH, but also a wall between you and the 1001 H.P. 16 cylinder double turbo charged engine. I was surprised to notice the similarities in the interior design of this car with those of our Thunderbirds. Leroy

I got one of the Fawcet windscreens made for the Camero. One of our other members got one and he rigged it to slip down behind the seats, but in this configuration, it would not fold down for storage.

I took mine apart at the hinges and am now trying to figure out a frame which would hold it over the back compartment with the cover on and still allowing access to the area behind the seats and fold down for storage when not in use.

                Re: Windscreen advice needed

I've been wanting a backdraft stop since I bought my bird. I have spoke with Dan at "love the drive" and he thinks he almost has it figured out. I like the looks of his backdraft stops the best and know when he gets it figured out more people will like them. If I could figure out where to buy parts, I have half a mind to build one myself just to get it done. One needs to get under it to access the space behind the seats. I like what Jim Young made as well but I really want the mesh look of "love the drive".

I've also been in touch with LovetheDrive. They even sent me pictures of the prototype. It's more in line with the flip up screens that we have on our Mercedes SL's. It's about a foot high, metal frame with screen. The prototype seemed to have mounting issues. I posted a link a while back a got a bunch of negative opinions. The website still lists it as coming soon.

You beat me to it! - I have been in contact with "love the drive" and as mentioned, it is coming soon.

I took a good look at one of their screens on a different car last summer and the quality to be good and the appearance was very nice - it is what made me go look at the car.
I think I will be buying one once it is available

They've been telling me this since November.

FYI attached. (Try not to be moved by the poor Bird that gave up its interior for the project. )

Here's one I researched a while back as well...looks different from the typical acrylic ones offered by a few folks.....don't have many details about it, but you could call them:

Oh, that looks . . . . . . . . . special. What happens if you and your passenger don't have the same length legs? Or if they recline and you sit upright? I'll pass on that one, but thanks for the info.

Yeah, it likely won't be around for this season but that is fine. I did like the appearance on the car I saw it on as it seemed to be sized properly and the shape was complimentary to the car.
Hopefully the mounting arrangement is strong but not very visible.

I just recieved a test model from "love the drive". I put it on my car this afternoon and took it for a spin. Not bad. I took a quick picture and will post it. I plan to put some miles on the road this week end and give all feed back.

That's interesting. I've been exchanging e-mails with Dan for several months. I also got the pictures of the prototype. When I didn't get a reply to my last e-mail, I assumed that the company or the T-Bird project had been scrapped. I'm looking forward to your pics and comments. This looks the closest to the "OEM" you see on other vehiles.

                                Thanks!
