Bird Anomalies

It has been a while since we had a thread about our cars. I don’t ever remember seeing anything like this before. We all know that American manufacturing is not flawless. This thread is a place to post what you think is an anomaly. Maybe it’s not an anomaly, maybe it is, let the experts decide - I’ve seen I think 3 on my Neiman Marcus – ahh the things you think about rolling around on the garage floor cleaning the undercarriage. This thread will also bring to light who among us pays the most attention to the details of their car.

Here’s one. 3 of my rims have 3 notches in them, 1 only has 2?

Did you check to see if all 4 NM match in other ways?
Scroll down this page until you get to the 2002 wheels. Below the normal pictures, I have some close ups of the NM wheels and the Delux wheels and their differences.

of course the chromed delux photo I have shows 2 notches.

I suggest taking the wheels off and checking the numbers on the back side

My guess is that the original owner may have replaced one wheel under warranty and the replacement wheels were manufactured in a different batch (and possibly from a different supplier) than the originals that were on the cars at delivery.

I am sure your car was abducted by aliens. I was and since then I have two notches. Before that I had three also. But I am not going to show you where.

I often wonder why the flip-top ashtray cup was installed in the aft recepticle rather than the forward recepticle.

both of mine were in the forward recepticle, the one closest to the gear shift. Fit better there with less rattling than the aft one which is a slightly larger recepticle. Both were removed for holding drink containers so I don't care which one the ashtray cup goes into since they're not in the cars.

Well, Chuck, I went out and crawled under the car and looked up at the undercarriage. And yes, it's there!

Maybe car rims have 3, but trailer rims only need 2...
