Im getting ready to install the TBC SS Hardtop trim I recently purchased. Does anyone have any tips on how to install? Am curious if I should prepare the painted surface prior to placing the stips in place. Any tips would be welcom

    Thanks! John

I just put some wax on it and buff.
I ran out of the Ford pre-cut tape last year, and I hate to get robbed by Ford so I would not buy their $115.00 tape.

I use Scotch/3M Clear Repair Tape, product code # 0 51135 03439 2 most any auto parts store has it and the cost is $6.00

        John,
I had these on my car for a while, they are very easy to install. If you have the top on the car, mark the area where the rubber seal hits the car with a grease pencil. This will help make sure you install the strips in the right location. If the top is not on the car, placing the strips about an 1/8th of an inch in from the edge is safe.

First, wipe the surface with some 70% rubbing alcohol to remove any contaminants (try not to erase the lines you may have drawn above). Install the middle section first. The most important thing to watch out for is not to let the metal strip extend beyond (overhang) the sail panel. This will cause a problem with chaffing the convertible top. Be sure it's centered and lay it down. Keep in mind that once it's down...IT"S DOWN! The two extension pieces that mount on either quarter panel should line up with the center section.

        I hope this helps!

Question for theflash (Barry). Does this tape come off easily when you want to remove it?
