  • Traction Control & ABS Lights On

Both lights are coming on together on an intermittent basis. This just appeared today. I used the car for four trips today, the lights appeared for the first and third trips but not the second and fourth. I attempted to re-engage the TC with the dash button, but no go. Does anyone have a thought as to what's happening? Thanks in advance.

were they flashing on and off?
what were you doing when the lights came on?
how long did they stay on?
did you hear anything different when the lights were on?
    mileage on your tires?

road surface that you were driving on?

Looks like an ABS sensor is on its' way out.

were they flashing on and off?
            No, they were on steady.
what were you doing when the lights came on?
Started the engine and ABS stays on. TC comes on when the car moves.
how long did they stay on?
Until the engine is turned off.
did you hear anything different when the lights were on?
            No
            mileage on your tires?
            Just 4K
road surface that you were driving on?

BTW, it's not doing it today, so we'll see what happens.

My 04' just started the same squence of event. Wheel senor(s) going out. My plan was to wait until they stayed on all the time, and then take to the dealer.

Just had the same thing happen to mine about two months ago. It didn't happen every time I drove it but only occasionally. Also had a little slip between third and fourth gear so I took it in for a diagnosis. Ended up rebuilding the entire transmission and while there they replaced the wheel sensors. Everything great again. Thank God for the extended warranty. Over $4000 with $100 deductible.

Re: Traction Control & ABS Lights On

You guys must all be psychic...that's the exact reason my 05 MSB is in the shop right now. ...for the 3rd time in 2 weeks. My traction and ABS lights came on exactly as described above.

They came on after accelerating to pass a car and stayed on. I took it to Ford; they cleared the codes and told me that the "book" said to try that first, that it might just be a fluke. I drove it for 2 days, they came back on again. Took it back, and they went ahead and replaced the ABS module (after 3 days of keeping it), and sent it home. On the way home, not 20 minutes from the dealership, they came on again.

Took it back last Saturday. I haven't heard back from them yet because I went on a short notice business trip to San Diego, so I'm hoping when I get back to Alabama on Friday they'll have it fixed.

My brother, who happens to be a mechanic, told me that it might not be enough to replace the ABS module; he said they should check the wheel sensors as well, because they might be faulty.

I'll let you know how it turns out...!
