We got stopped following George and Sally coming back from Vegas, no ticket, just a warning. We were using the radios to find out what he was saying to each car............lol

Well everytime I speed I worry about a cop seeing me and sure enough when I look in the mirror I see one.
I drive my TBird to fast but I can honestly say within the last 30 years I have received more tickets driving a cop car than driving my own
I am more worried about cows, deer or turkeys in way than getting speeding ticket.
I was seen recently racing a mustang Gt in Lincoln but not by the police thank goodness, the mustang would have beat me but backed off my speed scared him off

I don't know, Dave. When caravaning the guy in the back always has to go faster than the leader to keep up. However, after following him for about 3 weeks, I've come to the conclusion we are better off with him in the back - cuts down on the number of U turns.

Shon, I agree with you and have to share this story:

I stopped a car doing 85 in a 55 one night and was going to tell him to slow down (since we were the only 2 cars out there during the gas crisis of the '70s). Anyway, he proceeds to rant and rave about me bothering him and not catching "crooks". I asked him what a crook was, he said a criminal. I asked what a criminal was, he said someone that breaks the law. I said, GOT YA. I still only wrote a warning and yes, I did get chewed out by the Sgt. because the guy called as soon as he got to a phone to complain about my smart mouth....You can't please some people no matter what

                  Re: T-Bird Speeding Tickets

I got caught in upstate N.Y. a few years ago doing 81 in a 70 trying to catch up to Snowbird. The cop was on the overpass setting up but not in time to catch him doing 85. $50 fine which ended up being $100 because I was out of state.....not sure that is fair or is that fare?

We got all 3 cars caught up and I got picked out of the middle, now how do you think the third car got there without speeding? Oh well, just my luck!

I was co-operative, he change the ticket to disobeying a road sign (no points lost) but I did lose 20 minutes of my time.

The trouper's last words....slow down and BTW....nice car!

                  Gord.

Drive it like you stole it !!!

Well ... EXCUUUUUUUUSE MEEEEEEEEEEE!!! I actually thought making the 'occasional' U-turn was a better alternative than possibly driving off a closed bridge or going hundreds of miles out of the way just to hide the fact that I picked the wrong road. I'll not make that mistake again!

And Julie -- at least when you follow me ... you don't get a speeding ticket and a special visit in the back seat of a police cruiser.
Unbelivable TBN trips including ALL of the lower 48 States plus 9 Canadian Provinces, 8 European Countries, 3 Caribbean Countries, Countless National Parks and have attended well over 100 TBN Events since 2001 and counting. Best of all ... fabulous friends.

My 23yo daughter got one driving mine last summer. The cop almost wrote anotner for the TBird commemorative IL plate on the front. See my avatar. He decided not to, thankfully.
                            As for me, never caught.

                              Re: T-Bird Speeding Tickets

My 1st ticket in 25 years was 4 years ago for doing 45 in a 30. It was a beautiful July morning, my first summer in my bird, cruising along with the top down & Jimmy Buffett blaring on the radio (I might have been singin' along too ) I topped a hill along my normal route & there was one of Snellville's finest, standing alongside his cruiser chatting with one of his colleagues that happened to be holding a radar gun. He spotted me cresting the hill - made a mad dash to his cruiser, did a quick U-turn & caught up to me a few blocks away. (I had already pulled over & was waiting for him whaada ya gonna do...when you're wrong, you're wrong). Of course I got the "Do you have any idea how fast you were going sir?" I didn't, but I knew it was on the top side of 60 (hey, it was a nice day & Buffett was blasting...). his response was 66 in a 30 While he ran my plates, I tried to remember my last ticket. When I told him it was my 1st in 25yrs, he said "Sorry to break your streak", but he did drop it to 45 in a 30. After all was said & done THEN he started in on how nice my T-bird is and how rarely he sees them on the road, love the color, great day for top down cruising....
