      Re: Broken Bird

T-Birds are not suppose to rev over 3,000 RPM while in park, only while they are moving can you rev the engine over 3,000.

Yesterday ,after turning it off and restart the wrench lite went out . I suspect the problem went away then . I would have spent 2or 3 hundred dollars for a definitive answer . Still, it might be wise to let a FORD dealer hook it up for a quick diagnostic. Just a safe-guard.

          Re: Broken Bird

By coincidence the same thing happened to me this last Sunday. When I stopped the car at a stop sign, the wrench came on and the car just stayed in idle, no reaction when the accelerator was pressed. Turned off and restarted, wrench was gone but engine light was on, meaning at least a code was set.
Took it to dealer today. Code said throttle sensor so they replace it. Glad I have the ESP, no charge.

John , engine lite never came on for me . Good friend who was a line mech for ford when these birds were new told me after I told him the conditions the car was in when the fault happened ,that I asked the car to do something it was not sussposed to or could not do . We tried to make it happen again and could'nt . He tried to read any codes and none were there . He said he was 99% sure it would'nt happen again . He said to drive the fire out of it and enjoy it with no fears . If it happens again he would try to pull the codes . I am taking his advice. Allen P.

              Re: Broken Bird

That is why I was actually glad the engine light was on. Without a code being set things are sometimes hard to track down. Hopefully yours is like your friend said and will now be OK. I know I sure hope the throttle sensor proves to solve my problem.

And thanks for everyone else responding, it is amazing the wealth of experiences that this site can pass on to each of us.
