Re: Turbo coupe or super coupe?
James, I have had, from new at the time, an 84 Turbo and an 87 Intercooled Turbo along with a 90 and 91 Super Coupe then a 95 LX. As for body style I would love to have my 87 back. As for preformance the 89 and 90 Super Coupe were better. Depends on what your looking for. They are Here. Scotty, beam me up!IT'S 5 O'CLOCK SOMEWHEREVisit the TBN Store

Re: Turbo coupe or super coupe?
At one time, the last Super Coupes were quite sought after. I know a guy who had 2 of them, both put away brand new, just like some did with the '76 Eldo Convertibles. Of course they never did materialize as good investment cars, but neither did the Eldo.Unbelivable TBN trips including ALL of the lower 48 States plus 9 Canadian Provinces, 8 European Countries, 3 Caribbean Countries, Countless National Parks and have attended well over 100 TBN Events since 2001 and counting. Best of all ... fabulous friends.

Re: Turbo coupe or super coupe?
The first new car I ever bought was a '90 Super Coupe. I put something like 140,000 miles on it and never had any problems out of the engine. The performance was really great, especially considering how heavy and comfortable the car was. However, my car had a problem with the brakes much like the coil problems with the retro birds. Ford never permanently fixed the problem, but they replaced my rotors and pads three or four times for free even though the car was well out of original warranty.
I wish I had kept it, and if I could find a well maintained, low mileage car I would love to have another one.

Re: Turbo coupe or super coupe?
The Turbo Coupes were 4 cyclinder, and built off the old Fairmont platform, while the Super Coupes were built off the "newer" MN12 platform.
I had 2 Super Coupes, an '89 and a '94. The '89 was spectacular, but did indeed have its maintainence issues. The Supercharged Thunderbird SC was rated at 210hp, and over 300 lb.ft. of torque. The HP number was grossly understated as these things hauled a$$.
I have a friend who has had both, an '88 Turbo Coupe and a '90 Super Coupe. The "beak' Styling of the '87-'88 Turbo Coupes was quite unique.
Both are great cars, and totally different from one another.ScottyNeutron

Re: Turbo coupe or super coupe?
I have a 93 Super Coupe. I have it only because it's a little unique. I don't put a lot of miles on it, no problems with it so far other than normal maintenance. I was tempted to buy an 86 Turbo Coupe but did not, probably should have and still may some day.

Re: Turbo coupe or super coupe?
I had a 1985 black/grey leather TCoupe. Nice runner, unique style.
When the beak TCoupes came out, I liked them (over the 83-86), but after all these years, I started to think that the 83-86 had a better balanced style.
But, the beak TCoupes had better performance.
If I had to make a choice, it would be the last model year SCoupe.2010 Explorer Limited Edition, tri color white, camel interior
