  • FLAT TIRE and Daytons...

I had a flat tire for the first time with my Daytons. It turned out to be a comedy of errors since the lug wrench that comes with the car does not fit the lugs for the wire wheels. Add that to the fact that the lugs for the wire wheels do not work with the spare that comes with the car due to their extremely long sleeves. Fortunately I was close to my shop at home so I could jack it up and get it back on the road with a minimum of frustration.

Luckily I was close to home – I’ve taken long trips in it and I would have been extremely embarrassed about my complete lack of preparedness to say the least. This will not happen again, and to that end I am carrying five lugs for the spare and a universal lug wrench that fits both lug types.

Better get a luggage rack. It sounds like the trunk is full.

Dave, I was lucky, I found out the lug wrench didn't fit when I wanted to remove my wheels to clean them. I was at home so it wasn't a problem. I never thought about the spare not fitting, now I'm really glad I changed the trunk spare to another Dayton with full size tire. Glad it wasn't to big of a hassle.
