Hello, Does anyone have the Ford part number for the replacement script "Thunderbird" logo for the passenger-side rear quarter-panel? Also would like to know what the procedure is for re-attachment.

Lindy:
The Ford part no. is 1W6Z-76517A20-AA. Team Ford has them for $18.00, $25with shipping or, $24.95 each at any Ford dealership.

It has been posted that the left and right look the same but one costs more. Not sure why.
BTW, plenty of this info can be found using the search function.

Lindy,
I don't have part # but to put it on.
Clean the area with well to remove all wax and dirt.
mark with an easily removeable tape, the position it needs to go in so you know it's level and the beginning and end of emblem
pull off the protective paper on the back of the script
press script on - you only get one chance to put it on right as it's super sticky.

I don't know the part number but they should be available thru your local Ford dealer.
As for installing it, it is I believe a stick on with 3 M tape. You would need to clean the surface enough as to remove any wax from the area then peel the backing off and carefully press the new emblem in place make sure you get it on straight since once it is on it is difficult to get off.

PS. It seems Mat, Dot and I are the early risers! Answered about the same time.

One of the girls at the car wash snaged the one on the pasenger side with a rag and broke off the RD. She got her boss to look at it and he said he would order a new piece and call me when he gets it. About a week later he called and I took it in. He put my car in his detail shop and I watched him. He used a hair dryer to heat up the rest of the old one to get it to pull of easily. Then he sprayed on some cleaner and wiped off the area with a rag. There must have been some tell tale marks that showed were the original one had been becuase he just pulled the strip off the back of the new piece and pressed it on. No charge and it looks perfect. I also have a brand new one in the original Ford box that I got on Ebay for $10.00. I thought I might use it on a picture frame when I get that perfect picture. Leroy

I recently ordered two for spares, and there is a listing for a right side and a left side. I can't remember which one costs more, but one of them is listed for about a dollar more. I told the parts guy they were both exactly the same. He said they must be different, because one costs more. I bet him the cost of a new one that they were the same. When I went to pick up the parts, he had three waiting for me. I won the bet. So, when you order, order the cheaper one.

Thanks Ray. Do you have both part numbers available? And which one was cheaper??

Leroy,
Now that is something I did with the emblem that goes on the trunk. I bought several for $10 each and put one on a picture that Ford supplied when I visited Dearborn for the 50th anniversary of the Thunderbird. I had the picture framed and matted and applied the large emblem on the glass. It does look really cool!
This could be a whole new thread! I will try to take a picture and see how it looks and maybe others who have done this also can add to it!
When I re-did the car this year, I left them off. (I have them stored away)

I agree that it looks cleaner and better without the script on the fender. I have four spares, just in case. I put two on the cops covers (I guess that is what they are, they look like rocker covers) and it looked great in the engine compartment, but when they fixed my COPS one time they changed them and sent the old ones to Ford since it was under warranty.
