I looked at this car back in 2007 when I was searching for my Bird. And I think it was $40,000.00 then. I don't know if this is true or not? But the Salesman told me that because the car has never been sold or titled that the 3/36 warranty would start when the car is sold and the car was in a Ford Dealer's showroom? It was exactly what I was looking for, but too much for me at that time. I found my Black 04 with 7,000 miles on it and still under warranty for $27,000.00 about a month later. Leroy

Yeah, even with the warranty, $50k is a bit much. You can find 2005s with less than 10k miles on them for mid $20k. But to each his own!

Ok Leroy, now here's a big clue to pricing our retro-birds, part of the factor is the warranty that may or may not have been included, when we bought ours used. In other words, some of us bought ours pre-owned, and did not get a warranty included, for instance, my 2005 Torch Red with Performance White hard-top. Sure, I paid a depreciated price, or did I? No warranty was included! So what does a good warranty cost from Ford? And there you have it, another huge factor in figuring the resale or collector value/pricing of our Thunderbirds. No? Slightly off the topic now, always remember that the best point about our T-birds is the fact that they are a designed as a reinCARnation of the Classic two-seaters. That's what makes Dot's website so great! The education factor.

Member Lou Martun is able to get a Ford extended warranty for members. I don't think the warranty is much of a factor in this guy asking $50K for his car, since one can be purchased for less than $1300. Only someone with more money than sense would pay $50K for this car, IMO. Maybe in 50 years, but not now. There are too many for sale right now at half that price.
Lou.
Just want to thank you again ( here on TBN ) for what I think is a super deal, " $1295.00 for 48/48 Ford ESP ". I would suggest any TBN er's thinking of an extended warrranty, give Lou a call. This is one of those deals thats too good to pass up.

Lindy, I bought my 04 in April of 07, the 3/36 warranty was transfered to me and was still good till August of 07. In August a week before it would've expired, I extended it with my locale Ford Dealer for 48K or 08/2011 with ZERO deductable for $1800.00. I now have 16K on the car. I hope to be able to extend it again in 2011. I think a Warranty is a good investment on these cars not only for peace of mind but resale value as well since they can be transfered to the new owner. ...according to the inflation calculator at http://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl the $3,800 bucks it would have taken to buy a fully loaded new 1956 T-Bird in 1956, would have the same buying power today (2009)as about $30,172 bucks. By comparison, the 43 grand (proximate) that it would have taken to nab 2002 in 2001 (at sticker price) would have the power of $52,437. So according to this thinking, 50 grand would be in line, were it not for that nemesis called 'depreciation'.
Guys, I'm tempted to sell my '02 'Bird (want to buy a Mustang...) and I'm wondering how much should I expect to get for it. Besides having a few factory options like chrome wheels, hardtop, it has a few little "extras" like chrome hood scoop, fender skirts, wood dash kit, custom upholstered headrests, top boot and console armrest, T-Bird embroidered floor mats and trunk mat, stainless steel door sill plates, a custom mat that fits on the shelf behind the seats with the word "Thunderbird" embroidered in it as well as a larger one which fits inside the hardtop's rear shelf, custom hand-painted pin stripes, plus all the car's original documentation (window sticker, bill of sale, etc)...
