Re: Not Riding On Just Air Anymore!
Cold temperatures and chilly dispositions! Of course if you are in the south, you finally get to take the top off and enjoy the daylights out of it. Makes the rest of us green with envy.sigpic

steelblue5505, Calm down dude! One might think you've been exposed to a little too much Nitogen and need a breath of fresh air. Leroy

Re: Not Riding On Just Air Anymore!
One 'feature' of using nitrogen to inflate tires is that it expands less than
ordin-air. I just tested my tire pressure, first cold, then after a 20 mile trip on highways and in-town driving. My tires, Goodyear Eagle, 235x50 R17, are filled with my own compressor with central Texas air--rarified, but certainly not exotic.
Ambient air temp is around 73. Left front tire pressure before driving was 28 pounds. After the round trip, pressure of same tire was 32 pounds, an increase of four pounds.
Can some nitrogen-tired folks run a similar test to see if the myth of lower expansion of nitrogen is valid?
(All puns are intended.)

What makes you think it is a myth?
I've heard about the 'nitrogen benefits' for 60 years, but no data to show the benefits with regard to reducing tire pressure at operating temps. Since regular air consists of 75 to 78% nitrogen, I'm curious how much less pure nitrogen makes in a tire compared to just air.
PS I also heard about that '53 Corvette with a badly decomposed body in it, too.

Re: Not Riding On Just Air Anymore!
Well, the story goes that the '53 (or '57 FI, etc) was for sale very cheap, but the aroma of the decomposed body inside had permeated the fiberglass and could not be removed, rendering the car worthless. Snopes has a breakdown:
