  • 2005 Total Loss Settlement Figure

Just got off the phone with Liberty Mutual regarding my 2005 Med Steel Blue w/12273 miles total loss.
    Photos in 2 previous threads.
Liberty offered $27,225 plus $100 incidentals plus NYS tax.
I personally think it's pretty fair.

    Anyone think differently?
Thanks again for all the good advice.
    Paul

PS-Gotta find a new one now!

If you're happy with it, that's all that counts!

Sounds like a very fair settlement and you should be able to replace your BABY with that. Now the hunt begins, but this is the right time to be looking for a RetroBird at the end of a season. GOOD HUNTING.

      Gord.

Drive it like you stole it !!!

Take it and shop carefully!!! It's off season for convertibles in most of the country and prices should be somewhat lower than in the warm months.

I noticed the Hard-Top was off the car. Did your insurance company make you turn it in or have you been able to keep it? That's worth another $1,500.00 or more. But hang on to it till you find another TBird, you might want to keep it? Good Luck! Leroy

And they are often re-painted to give the car a different look.

You got a great deal. I don't think you could have sold it for that amount.

Nice dollar amt. from insurance co.
Medium Steel Blue is a real beauty of a color. There was, I'm told, only 1452 '05 Birds were produced in MSB, out of a total 9295 built for '05.

The one shown in the previous post sounds good. Maybe a flight out AZ is in your future. This one is a sand interior instead of the ink black like you had. Could be a nice change for you.

Good luck on your hunt and once again thankfully you were not injured.

That sounds like a GREAT price! How do you feel about it? Was it as big a fight as many thought on this site. Did you have to show them any docs regarding limited production of Steel Blue 05 Birds? Did the claim rep show you how they arrived at the dollar amount?

Re: 2005 Total Loss Settlement Figure

The conversation was actually pretty one sided, If i'd have asked for more I would not have any documentation to back it up. There offer was higher than any source I could find Other then some high asking prices which the insurance comp. does not consider.
They said they used a combination of Red book and recent sales in NYS.
I was prepared for 15 rounder and was pleasantly surprised. They even let me keep the rental till Fri.
The next problem will be the next cars rates, which should not change as the other driver stated he did not see light and there are 2 witnesses on the Police report.
Should anyone else be in this unfortunate situation, it certainly seems these cars hold their value pretty well.
