SteelBlue5505 you are on to something but it wasn't the Twilight Zone. It is tones from the space craft in Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

        Re: Radio Ghost!

We have the satelite installed and always listen to it. When parked in the garage the signal is not strong enough to listen and the radio will change to fm radio on its own.

We also had a lincoln ls that the airbag light came on and the clockspring was the problem but our extended warranty did not cover since it was an airbag issue but would have if the turn signals didn't work. Maybe now is the time to get warranty work on the clock spring for the volume if the problem is caused by the clockspring.

          Stay tuned (pun intended!!!)!
Kathleen, see the tin foil beanie is working already!

Do make sure you wear it to bed too, that will stop you from being abducted while you are sleeping.

Treken and I have been doing this for years and so far it works; plus it keep the elelphants away.

There now you can sleep well at night as well as enjoy your tunes on the radio un-interrupted. (In fact with your tin foil beanie on you may not have to turn the radio on at all!)

Now if you should have any problems with Ogars or Elves let me know, I have a solution for that too! LOL

          Gord.

You might want to do a search on "clock spring"
So I read the few threads out there about the clock spring.

Today -- I 'played' with the steering wheel a bit -- cutting it around to almost the furthest point in one direction - and then into the other. Not surprisingly, the volume down now works on the steering controls.

I assume this would be covered by the ESP?

And, traveling again on the 'suspect' roadway -- the radio did not switch bands from AM to FM......

I plan to keep updating this thread as it could be helpful to someone else.

Thanks Dot for the headsup on the clockspring.
