Well...MMM, will stay true to her name. 3155 mils round trip. With 41 miles to go..........WHAM!!! Three Deer cross the road, One didn't make it. Soooo, guess whats gets a whole new nose. Up, MMM to a hit. Caught square with my front drivers headlight. The wrap arround fascia is toast.

Trying to up load pic's, but mine compter is giving me troube, so I sole Claires for the moment. I'll work on mine whenever we finally wake up, got in at 4 am.

We lucky, had we caught him dead center, he would have been in the car via the windshield. We fine, but shook up about it. First accident since driving started way back in 1963.

    Sorry to hear Dave,

A Coyote ran out and hit my bumper a couple years ago...

I don't really count it as an accident. It is called mother nature in the insurance business in think. The same as a tree falling on a car, which happened to a car of mine also back in the early 90's.

Make sure you tell your insurance company that the deer hit you, instead of you hitting the deer... no deductable...

Also ask your autobody company to try for new bumper. Insurance will tell them to find used, that is what my autobody company said to me and bought new bumper, telling the insurance company, could not find used...

Cost is around $1100.00 without painting and installing...

As your contemporary (I got my license back in 1963 too), I want to express to you and your wife my deepest regret in the tragic circumstances of your deer collision. I am just glad that neither of you was hurt. I remember seeing a show on Discovery where they mentioned that the deer is the most dangerous animal in North America, because impacts with deer kill more people than any other wild animal encounter. Take heart! The car can be repaired. With many others here on TBN, I share your sorrow.

Well at least you and Claire are alright - tough for the Bird though. BTW,there's a guy on another forum that just hit the remains of a truck tire, on the highway, and it took out the front facia, radiator and condenser. Estimate was $2000.
          Good luck Dave

Glad to hear you are both okay. Sorry to hear about MMM. Deer strikes are all to common unfortunately, I've had it happen myself. A pheasant too, along with numerous squirrels and an occassional groundhog.

whew, Dave. Glad that you're both safe. I know that you'll have MMM back to normal in no time at all.
Deer concern us also. This past fall watched a doe with triplets graze in a neighbors yard. the fawns just flitted all over the place. They turned on a dime and we never knew which way they were headed. We drove real slow going by their place in case a fawn decided to dart across the road.

Especially this time of year, it is their rutting season. A game warden told me once that there are more killed by cars in Ontario than by archery hunting. Not a day goes by if you drive in the country that you don't see them this time of year, day or night...

Normally night time is when you have to watch out for them jumping in front of you, and at night, you can see the glowing eyes from the head lights if you are half watching for them, which I do.

My brother ended up sideways in a deep ditch with the front end gone in his Camero from a deer.

Important thing is, no body got injured (deer excluded)

Didn't mention if the air bag deployed? My Wife hit a Deer back a few years ago in a SUV and set both air bags off. She called me on her cell phone after she got pulled over and while talking to her a guy pulled over to see if she needed help. Next thing I know the guy's on her phone asking me if he can have the Deer? The damage to the SUV was 11K and as soon as we got it back I dumped it and got her a new one, I didn't trust the air bag replacement. Leroy

We all hate to hear about hitting large animals. But we're glad you and Claire are fine, physically.

Had a close experience last night. Just after dusk, two large, spirited boxers were "jubilant" to be in thier front yard. The house is on a curve, and lots of cars parked curbside. Obviously distraught owners trying to keep the dogs from getting in the street...two oncoming cars, and CARTOY trying to miss the dogs, and thier owners. I just pulled over until the dogs were cornered close to the house.

Yes, quite a shocking experience, happened to me once....Deer's nose hit the gas filler cap, betcha she had a headache.

Happened to another car though, not my TBird.
