I'm not sure why I've been getting rude comments about my '03. Several people have said it looks a little "feminine." Others have even thought it looks "gay." I get defensive and talk about the V-8, etc., and they shut up. Anyone else get negative comments? I wonder if they mean its styling, or its size? Maybe they're jealous and it's a backhanded compliment? All my life my mama taught me to pay no mind to insults or to care what others think, and I don't. I just wonder if the cars we love so much are being laughed at.

Re: Insulting comments
People will always fall into two general classifications: the Haves and the Have Nots. Some of those comments are from people who think they have clever, and they don't. Some of them are from people who don't have what they want and are generally pissed at people who do. Bottom line, you got what you want and you need to hang out with more secure people. Or, if they're strangers, just be assured that Karma will take care of them in due time. Go on about your business. And, as far as the Bird being gay - that may explain why mine has a tendency to follow construction trucks.sigpic

Re: Insulting comments
I only have one guy that always makes a comment about my car when he walks into the VFW. Hey Leroy! I see you got the Thunderchicken out today or I think you should've kept the Corvette. But I don't let it bug me, I just laugh it off, everybody knows they guy's just being jerk. Leroy

Re: Insulting comments
I agree with Sealy. I think these people are either (1) jealous that you have something "better" than they do and insult you to make them feel better about themselves; or (2) just plan rude, in which case, why would you want to be around them anyway? I think there are a lot of convertibles that are more of a "chick car" (although I would NEVER express my opinion to a man driving one), but the T-Bird is not one of them. Men and women look equally awesome driving a Bird!

I have heard those same type of comments during the eight years I have been driving retros. Those responses are far outweighed by the positive comments and thumbs ups I have gotten. Chalk the negative ones up to jealousy. What guy wouldn't want a car that is a chick magnet?~Jimmy

Re: Insulting comments
The only "negative" comments I've heard are from my friends who say that the Retrobirds are "old" looking and are suitable for "old" people. And judging from this thread, maybe that's the demographic Ford was going for?
Well, I'm only 30, and I love the things!

Bob:
good one!!
Anyway, I did consult with my family before buying the "cashmere" color... which is "white" for people that don't like "white", but still can't make up their minds!
Seriously, a few of the colors I liked got voted down for not being suitable for a man my age (wow... tough subject to talk about without offending folks). Anyway, when the cashmere color came up... no one had a negative comment... so I bought it.
Funny... I liked every color EXCEPT white... but the offwhite cashmere color really appealed to me. That's wierd.
