....a few years ago now, I was pulled into a parking lot...parked in front of a big old Lincoln just as this big burly woman stepped out and says "It must take a real man to drive a yellow car!"...To which I gave her a wave and replied in an effeminate voice "Yes...It certainly does!"....which nonplussed her for a few seconds before she moved on.....
My wife's boss is always saying that the RetroBird is a "womans car". Implying that it is not a man's car.
My response, (since I don't have to work for him) is that most Honda Accord owners are: (Guess what he drives)
Women or Gay males who haven't come out of the closet....yet! His response is silence!
Of course he ain't seen it since it became a muscle car!
Mines been called thunderchicken every where. Then I turn off the TC, downshift it, and Blow them away. I love the sound of Borla's in the Morning. (well, actually all the time)
Like all TBird owners we get positive comments almost every time we take the car out. The other day some guy walked up to my wife as she was getting into the car and asked, "How do you like your Ford?". She answered she liked it fine and he said, "You know, I never did like the way they made the trunk slope down in the back". She told him that almost every time we take the car out somebody says something nice about it so since he is in a minority position, "the problem is clearly with you and this is the first time we have run into somebody who is jealous enough to make a nasty comment". He left without saying another word.
I distract people who might have insulting comments with an orange wig. Works very well. They forget about the car and are fixated on the weirdo inside
Will, a lot of people your age don't even know how long the thunderbird has been around. They grew up seeing rice rockets, bmws, and maybe a few mustangs. Glad you're not like a lot of people your age.
Everyone drives what they can almost afford. When it comes to toys we drive what we want.
I've never been told I drive a woman's car. Comments have always been positive, however, if it did occur, I think my answer would be as follows. Just let me check, no, didn't think I'd bought a Miata.
A Miata? Very funny. One of the people who insulted me is my brother, who owns a Miata. Judging by the comments on this thread, I need to man-up and defend my "Gaybird!"

That is funny - the Miata is a car I've always thought of as a "chick car." Regardless, male or female, gay or straight, everyone looks awesome driving a T-Bird!!
Bird is the word..... Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats. H. L. Mencken US editor (1880 - 1956)
Agree with Sealy's initial reply-and Ron I can say it's NOT a Pa. thing, only live a about 40 min. west of Dave ,maybe its dem "Joysee" guys crossin' da border near 'im!
Seriously, I get nothing but compliments when I take her out-a real "people magnet".
Young and old, doesn't matter....even the Amish! With the top down I tell them this is my "Courting buggy"! (that's what they call their 2 seat open buggy)
