Thanks for the suggestions, BUT, I know how to unlock a door. The passenger side door lock does NOT work, with the remote or the switch. The drivers door does work. I wonder if it is the actuator, or maybe a wiring issue. Any previous problems from anyone?

door lock issues have usually been noticed on the driver's side. Have you done a search here to see what pops up, Paul?

                Re: Member needs assistance

The door lock actuator on our passenger door stopped working properly about a year ago, so I had the service people at our dealer replace the actuator soon thereafter. Lock actuator had failed. It wasn't cheap to replace (out of warranty), but that fixed the problem.

I would not tear into the door myself. All kinds of electronics and glass in there. You can also mess up the interior door trim and armrests if you don't know what you are doing removing things to get access to the actuator inside the door itself.

Found out why my right power door lock does not work. It seems it is controled by the rear electronic module in the trunk. It costs $710 for the part. Ouch!!!

eBay has listings for door actuators for $19.95 (search for 2002 Thunderbird door actuator), but I have no idea of quality or fit. Anyone out there with experience with these actuators?

Found out car does NOT need an actuator. It needs the rear electronic module which costs $710.
