  • Thunderbird Concepts--Dash Kit

Am considering purchasing the "Urban Metal " Dash Kit from Thunderbird Concepts for my 03 T-Bird. Has anyone installed this kit & is the finish a good match to original equipment? Thanks!

I have it in my 03 Bird it is a close but not exact match. It is a little shinnier than the OEM.

Bruce -- do you have any photos showing the two finishes in your 2003?

John, google Superior Dash Kits, they are where thunderbird concepts get their kits. They have two urban metal kits one is high gloss. Bruce said his kit is shinnier than the pieces in the car so you might want to try the non-shinnier. Thunderbird concepts is great but dealing with the manifacter might give you more choses. ask for Chrissy Franks, she has always been a big help.

I also have the urban metal dash kit. It is close the grain of the metal doesn't match and it is shinier. It is the best match I could find . I have a Black 03 . To me the dash kit compliments the aluminum finish that is in the car. To me it is a smoother finish that works well with whats there.

I found that with the top up or hard top on my triple black that it was just too dark inside the car but the dash kit made it brighter and makes the interior look more like a Thunderbird should look.

So -- this is how I feel even though I don't have a black exterior nor a hardtop. In my mind, the original birds had a very light, breezy look to the interior. With the black seats, dash and carpet on my bluebird, it just looks 'flat' and dark. I would love to see comparison photos of the dash kit aluminum metal against the factory installed aluminum that comes with the retro bird.

Gord -- I like how you left off the entire console piece yet installed the transmission box piece. That is a great look!

                      Hey all,
Ive got samples of both "Urban Metal" finishes coming from Superior Dashes & Thunderbird Concepts for comparison to Fords original trim. Will advise the results upon reciept of samples.

I have the Urban Metal on my '02 and think it matches the OEM very well. This was added to the car in '03.

Gord -- which kit was that? I really like the piece that goes around the gear shift knob.

Good question, it was almost 5 years ago. I will have to dig around in my RetroBird file to see if I can locate who the supplier was. I know I ordered it thru the internet from California, I believe.

Hmmmmmmmm............now where did I put that file????????

Maybe it's in my Thunderbird Room! Will have to hunt for it.

I am sure others on this list may have that info if I can't find it.

                              HELP! I'm losing my mind!
